Ambassador John Opens Contemporary Art Exhibit

On Friday, February 8, U.S. Ambassador Eric G. John opened a contemporary art exhibit by American artist Joshua Harris entitled "A Season in Refuge:  Nomadic Monuments" at the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) Art Gallery.  The work of "Nomadic Monuments" is a series of portable sculptures Harris produced that challenge urban thought.  The forms of the sculptures draw inspiration from the physical symbols of personal space such as the bed frame and surrounding walls.  The paper folding screens ar reminders of the fragility of the walls we build to protect us.  In his remarks opening the exhibit, Ambassador John noted that he and his family are passionate about the arts and believe that artistic exchange is an essential part of the close relationship between Thailand and the United States.  The exhibit will run at the OCAC Art Gallery, 1st Floor of TPI Tower, Narathiwasrajchanakarin Road, until the end of February.
