Environmental Export Opportunities Update - September 2003

Shows and Events

September 1-3: Made in America Trade Show in Lebanon - emphasis on Environmental Sector.
This show is being hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and several Lebanese government and private sector entities. The show is unique in that exhibit space is FREE OF CHARGE to U.S. companies. This event presents an excellent opportunity for firms to get in on the ground level of USAID projects and make useful contacts for the region. Many infrastructure projects are on going in Lebanon.

September 9-11: ENVIRO-PRO TECOMEX 2003 at the World Trade Center in Mexico City, Mexico.
The most important event in Mexico for environmental products and services related to hazardous and toxic waste transportation equipment, bio-remediation technologies, medical waste transportation equipment, environmental engineering services, solid waste recycling equipment, desalination plants, water pumps, water filtration equipment, water supply and distribution systems, and design and engineering services. September 29-October 3, 2003: Ecolink Environmental Business Matchmaker To Southeastern Europe

The U.S. Department of Commerce is organizing a U.S. Pavilion at the Aquatech Asia 2003 trade show at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center. This show is a leading show in Asia on water technology, products, and services. October 11-15: WEFTEC 2003:
The Water Environment Federation is hosting WEFTEC 2003 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. U.S. embassies worldwide will be leading delegations of buyers to the show. November 11 - 14: Japan Home Show.
The Japan Home Show is the largest housing industry trade show in Japan, attracting over 100,000 visitors every year. Exhibiting at a U.S. Pavilion participant is an excellent way to meet knowledgeable industry representatives such as homebuilders, importers and distributors, architects and developers. U.S. exhibitors will receive value added services from the U.S. Commercial Service Office in Osaka including: regular market updates, networking and market entry counseling and a special U.S. Pavilion exhibitor's catalogue and supplement.

November 18-20: 24TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL IRRIGATION SHOW at the San Diego Convention Center:
The Irrigation Association is designated as an International Buyer Program event, meaning the U.S. Commercial Service will lead delegations from around the world to the show. The show covers agriculture, turf grass, landscape, and golf course irrigation equipment, supplies, and services, as well as, related products such as water management, water features and landscape lighting. 5) Solid Waste Management - India
An Indian power generation company is seeking a U.S. to partner for a solid waste management project. They have been interacting with the Bangalore Municipal Corporation for the past couple of years to take up a project based on Bangalore Urban Solid Waste. The Corporation over the last few months has succeeded in streamlining collection of household garbage to land fill site. Recently, the Corporation has come out with a tender notification for "Development of Waste Processing and Engineered Sanitary Land Fill Facilities". The selected developer will maintain a municipal solid waste processing and/or engineered sanitary land fill facility under a long term Build, Operate, Transfer (BOT) concession.

5) United States-Asia Environmental Partnership (US-AEP) is a program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Its objective is to promote cleaner and more efficient cities and industries in Asia. The US-AEP is active in India, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
