Kingsville, Texas — Rio Grande Valley, Texas Border Patrol agents arrested an individual Monday wanted for questioning concerning a homicide in Virginia. The man has been turned over to the Kenedy County, Texas sheriff’s department for extradition.

The arrest occurred when Border Patrol agents assigned to the Kingsville Border Patrol station were checking a train near the Sarita, Texas checkpoint, encountered four subjects on a north-bound freight train. All subjects were found to be citizens and nationals of Honduras illegally present in the United States. They were taken into custody and transported to the Kingsville Border Patrol station for further processing.

At the station, the subjects’ fingerprints were entered into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. One subject was identified as a 27-year-old Honduran national with an arrest warrant from Virginia. The warrant is for three felony counts of forging public documents and three felony counts of unlawfully obtaining documents from the motor vehicles department. The man is also wanted for questioning concerning a homicide that occurred on July 28, 2007 in Chantilly, Va.

The Kenedy County sheriff’s department was contacted and advised they would take custody of the individual pending extradition to Virginia.

The fingerprint identification system features biometric identification technology that enables Border Patrol agents to search CBP’s Automated Biometric identification System and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s criminal fingerprint database simultaneously. This allows agents to rapidly identify individuals with outstanding warrants and criminal histories by electronically comparing a scanned, 10-fingerprint entry against a comprehensive national database of previously captured fingerprints.

To report suspicious activity, contact the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sectors’ toll free telephone number at 1-800-863-9382.
