John Santo
(11/12/2008)John Santo was named the Interim Program Manager for SBInet Program in April 2008. As the Interim Program Manager, Santo directs the implementation of SBInet at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).Santo previously served as the Executive Director for the Enterprise Networks & Technology Support Division (ENTS), Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Information Technology (OIT). Concurrent to these duties, Santo also served as the Acting Deputy Assistant Commissioner, CBP OIT.While in this position, Santo managed the ENTS Division from the National Data Center in Springfield, Virginia. Santo and his staff were responsible for design, project management, operations and maintenance of CBP IT networks, wireless and tactical communications networks, surveillance and detection system network programs. In addition, he was responsible for all onsite technology support and training including several 24/7 helpdesk and operation center functions; supply technology designs and operations for major national programs such as DHS OneNet (DHS-wide enterprise network), Secure Border Initiative, Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, and Automated Commercial Environment.Prior to his tenure at ENTS, Santo served as the Executive Director, Technology Support Division, within OIT. In this capacity, Santo managed the largest OIT division with 1,800 government and contractor personnel responsible for Operations and Maintenance of the largest datacenter in DHS, IT networks, Field Support, Helpdesk and training.As Director of the National Law Enforcement Communications Center (NLECC) in Orlando, Florida, Santo lead and managed a national tactical communications support facility with staff operating from 23 field offices, and program responsibility for two extensive wireless communications infrastructure providing coverage in North and South America. In addition, Santo managed a 24/7 Communications Operations center responsible for providing field emergency support, operation coordination, and tactical intelligence information services, to CBP and ICE field operational staff.Additionally, Santo has served as the Deputy, Chief Information Officer (CIO) for CBP and regularly participated on the Department of Homeland Security’s CIO council.Other areas in which Santo has served include U.S. Customs, Office of Enforcement, as Director of the Enforcement Support Division and the Customs Patrol Office in New York, NY as the Chief, Regional Communications Branch.A native of Brooklyn, New York, Santo graduated with an Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy State University in Troy, Alabama; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, Science and Technology, from State University of New York in Albany, New York and an Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma from DeVry University in Woodbridge, New Jersey.Santo has been awarded the Department of the Treasury, Albert Gallatin Award; FCC Chairman Award and the Treasury Secretary’s Certificate. |
