About
240 kindergarten students in 12 classes on the Massachusetts Military
Reservation were treated to lessons on marine life by two deck officers
from the NOAA Ship Delaware II. With help from NOAA Fisheries,
LCDR Richard Wingrove (pictured) and Ensign Noah Lawrence-Slavas helped
students delve into a touch tank of lobsters, crabs, sea stars and
fish. The kids examined a dolphin's skull, learned they share tooth
loss with Mako sharks, examined vertebra from the backbone of a beached
sperm whale, and relished an exciting full day of marine science.
