contacts for this news release

Yuma, Ariz. – Recruiters from the Border Patrol’s Yuma, Ariz. sector will be conducting a local event to interact with those interested in a career protecting our nation’s borders.

Yuma recruiting personnel will hold a three-day recruiting event March 28-30, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Yuma Palms Shopping Center. The event will be in front of Dillard's department store. Interested applicants will have an opportunity to ask questions about a career with the Border Patrol. Applicants can apply on-site and register to take the Border Patrol’s written entrance exam.

CBP is stepping up its recruiting efforts to hire 6,000 additional Border Patrol agents by the end of 2008. This national hiring event is in direct response to President Bush's May 2006 announcement to enhance border security by increasing the size of the Border Patrol. CBP continues to expand its recruiting and hiring efforts with an energized advertising campaign designed to identify candidates wanting to work in law enforcement protecting our nation's borders.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
