Facilities

The Sandia National Laboratories NMR Facility is comprised of two laboratories, housing a total of three high-field NMR spectrometers:

PETL: Bruker AVANCE 600

IMRL: Bruker AVANCE 400, Bruker DRX 400

All three instruments have full broadband capability; the AVANCE 600 and AVANCE 400 also have solid-state capabilities.

The Facility houses a variety of solution- and solid-state probes, including:

  • 4 mm 1H-X, 7mm 1H-X MAS probes

  • 4 mm 1H-X-Y Triple resonance MAS probe

  • 2.5 mm 19F-1H-X MAS probe (400 MHz)

  • 2.5 mm 1H-X MAS probe (600 MHz)

  • wideline probes (400 and 600 MHz)

  • 5 mm, 10mm broadband solution probes with single gradients

  • 5 mm TXI – triple gradient solution probe

  • 5 mm 203, 205Tl solution probe

  • 10 mm low background 29Si solution probe

  • 5 mm 19F/1H/X solution probe

  • NEW 5 mm diffusion probe with 1000 G/cm gradients

In addition to the three spectrometers, the Facility also houses an 8-node Linux cluster for computational analysis, running the SIMPSON and Gaussian03 software packages, in addition to laboratory-developed MATLAB programs.
