Calexico, CA – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol Agents last night rescued seven illegal aliens in distress in the desert east of Calexico, California.

On July, 18, 2005 at approximately 11:30 P.M., agents from the Calexico Station patrolling the area near Interstate 8 and Olgilby Road, encountered a group of illegal aliens which included an unconscious woman who was the possible victim of heat exhaustion. With temperatures exceeding 100 degrees for most of the day, Border Patrol agents immediately treated the unconscious victim for severe heat exhaustion while waiting for EMS to arrive.

As the result of the agents’ prompt, life saving efforts, the unidentified woman responded to the first aid treatment and regained consciousness. A Yuma Metro/Rural Ambulance Unit then immediately transported the heat-exhausted victim to the Yuma Regional Medical Center for further medical attention.

The other members of the group of illegal aliens, all claimed to have crossed the border from Mexico the previous day. The group informed the rescuing agents that their smuggler, who had promised to pick them up near Interstate 8, abandoned them after they crossed the border.
