SONEX Workshop
June 13-14, 1997

GENERAL INFORMATION

The SONEX Workshop will convene on June 13, 1997, at 8:15 am and June 14 at
8:30 am, and will adjourn at approximately 5:00 the first day and 12:00
Noon the second day.  A continental breakfast will be available both days
and an afternoon break will be available the first day.

REGISTRATION

Registration is scheduled for 7:15 am on June 13th near the conference
room.  All attendees are requested to email responses
(kkeller@pop200.gsfc.nasa.gov) no later than June 6, 1997.  Anyone
registering after this date will need to register onsite.

NASA GODDARD SECURITY CLEARANCE

Civil servant and contractor personnel from NASA Headquarters and other
NASA centers may enter via the Main Gate located on Greenbelt Road.  You
need only show your NASA badge to the guard and you will be waived through
the gate.  All other conference participants must obtain a Special Event
Badge that will be ready for you at the Main Gate.  There will be a Jorge
Scientific Corporation employee there to assist you if you have any
problems.  The Special Event Badge should be kept on you at all times while
on center.  If you arrive by taxi, you will have to stop and obtain the
same Special Event Badge before entering GSFC.

INTERNATIONAL VISITORS MUST   REGISTER WITH KATHY KELLER FOR SECURITY
CLEARANCE BY JUNE 2, 1997.  Please answer the questions on the registration
form and if you have a Green Card, you must bring it with you for entry
into the Center. Upon your arrival you will need to register at the Main
Gatehouse and obtain an International Visitor badge which will be ready for
you if you have pre-registered.   Entrance into Goddard may be seriously
delayed or denied for those international visitors who do not register in
advance.

PER DIEM

The Government per diem for Greenbelt, Maryland is $166.00.  The breakdown
is $124.00 for lodging, and $42.00 for meals and incidentals.


HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

A block of sleeping room reservations has been arranged for the group at
the University of Maryland Inn and Conference Center nder the group name of
"SONEX Workshop".  The sleeping room rate is $82.95 tax inclusive tax per
night.  The Inn and Conference Center is located at University Boulevard
and Adelphi Road, College Park, MD  20742.  The telephone number is
1-800-727-8622 or (301) 985-7310.  Individuals are responsible for making
their own hotel reservations.  The cut-off date for sleeping room
reservations is June 5, 1997.  After that date rooms will be available on a
first-come first-serve basis.  Check-in time is 3:00 p.m.; check-out is 12
noon.  A credit card number will be required to guarantee your room.  If
you need to cancel your reservation, it is your responsibility to contact
the hotel by 6:00 p.m. on the date of your scheduled arrival, or you will
be charged for one night's stay.

PARKING:  The parking garage is located beside the lodging facility.  You
will be issued a parking pass when you check into the facility.  The cost
is $5.00 per day which will be added onto your lodging bill.

PHOTOCOPY SERVICES

Small-scale photocopying will be available in Building 21 each day of the
workshop.

FAX TRANSMISSION SERVICES

Faxes may be received at the meeting at no charge at (301) 286-1754.
Please have all incoming fax transmissions addressed to the name of the
person the fax is being sent to and SONEX Workshop.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

The University of Maryland Inn and Conference Center is served by the
Baltimore Washington International (BWI), Washington National, and Dulles
International Airports.  The BWI Airport is located approximately 25 miles
from the hotel and is the most convenient airport of the three.

If you prefer to use shuttle service between the hotel and BWI Airport,
please use the Super Shuttle.  No reservations are required when you arrive
at the airport but you should make a reservation for your return trip.
When you arrive at BWI, proceed to the baggage claim area and continue to
the Ground Transportation Desk on the lower level, Pier C.  Cash and credit
cards are accepted at the desk;  cash and travelers checks only for return
trips and the cost is $20.00 each way.  The phone number is 1-800-258-3826.


If you are traveling from National or Dulles, the shuttle transport is
Super Shuttle.  The cost is $17.00 one way to the Greenbelt area and their
phone number is  1-800-258-3826.  When using the shuttle service from the
airport to your destination you do not need a reservation; simply go to the
shuttle desk at the airport.  When using  the shuttle service from your
hotel to the airport, please call in advance for a reservation.

Taxi service is also available from the baggage claim area, as well as
rental car agencies.

DIRECTIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CONFERENCE CENTER

From Richmond:

Take 95 North to the Capital Beltway.  Continue on 95 North until you get
to Route 1 South - College Park exit (Exit 25).   Follow US 1 until you
reach 193 West which immediately turns into University Boulevard.  Keep on
University Boulevard and go through 2 traffic lights.  At the 3rd light
(intersection of University Boulevard & Adelphi Road) make a U-turn and an
immediate right into the parking garage.

From BWI Airport:

Follow the exit road out of BWI to I-95 South.  Take 95 South approximately
30 miles, until you get to Route 1 South - College Park exit (Exit 25).
Follow Route 1 to the 1st exit for the University of Maryland (Systems
Administration).  Take this exit (193) which immediately turns into
University Boulevard.  Keep on University Boulevard and go through 2
traffic lights.  At the 3rd light (intersection of University Boulevard &
Adelphi Road) make a U-turn and an immediate right into the parking garage.

From National Airport:

Upon leaving the airport follow signs to Washington, DC using the George
Washington Parkway.  Stay on the Parkway until you see the I-495 Rockville
exit.  Follow 495 until you get to the New Hampshire Avenue exit.  Take the
New Hampshire/Takoma Park exit. Stay on New Hampshire Avenue and make a
left at the 2nd light onto Adelphi Road.  Drive approximately 3 miles on
Adelphi Road through 2 traffic lights.  At the third light, make a left

From Dulles Airport:

see the signs for I-495.  Take the exit towards Rockville.  Follow 495
until you get to the exit for New Hampshire Avenue exit.  Take the New

at the 2nd traffic light onto Adelphi Road.  Drive approximately 3 miles on

DIRECTIONS TO NASA/GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER

Directions from the University of Maryland Inn and Conference Center to
NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center:

Go East on University Boulevard (Rt. 193).  University Boulevard will turn
into Greenbelt Road (which is still Rt. 193).  Follow Rt. 193 for
approximately 9 miles to the main gate of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
You will cross over Rt. 1 (Washington Blvd.), Kenilworth Avenue, and you
will pass Greenway shopping center on your right, where there is a Safeway.
You will then cross over Hanover Parkway, and from there Goddard is
approximately 2 more miles.  Turn left into NASA/Goddard Space Flight
Center.  Cipriano Shopping Center with a K-Mart and Burger King will be on
your right.

Directions from BWI Airport to NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center:

Follow the exit road out of BWI Airport and follow the signs for the
Baltimore Washington Parkway (295) towards Washington.  You will be on the
Baltimore Washington Parkway for approximately 20-30 minutes.  Exit from
the Parkway at the MD 193--Greenbelt Road/College Park/NASA Goddard Exit.
At the stop sign make a left.  At the light, make a left onto Greenbelt
Road.  Follow Greenbelt Road for about 2 miles to the NASA Goddard Space
Flight  Center, which will be on your left.
