U.S. Customs and Border Protection Announces 2008 Pleasure Boat Clearance Procedures

contacts for this news releaseNew York – Pleasure boat masters arriving in the New York/Newark Area must make an initial report of arrival to U. S. Customs and Border Protection by calling 1-877-209-8526. The New York/Newark Area is defined as the geographic area north of Manasquan, N.J. and south of the Poughkeepsie Bridge on the Hudson River. The Area includes the north and south shores of Long Island. Arrival of a vessel is defined as the time when the vessel first comes to rest in U.S. waters, whether at anchor or at dock.Vessel masters must have the following information available:- Name, date of birth and citizenship of all persons on board (including passport number)
- Name of the boat and/or boat registration number
- U.S. decal number (if 30-feet or longer)
- Homeport and current location
- Return contact number
CBP may require that the master and passengers report physically to a staffed CBP office.
