US Embassy Presents School Kits to Ministry of Education

Members of the US Embassy’s Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) recently donated 100 school kits to the Ministry of Education’s (MOE's) BEAM Program. The BEAM (Basic Education Access Management) Program seeks to assist children who may be falling behind their classmates in subjects such as reading and comprehension by utilizing a computer based phonics program called “Successmaker.”

The donated school kits will be utilized as “rewards” for those children throughout Guyana’s school system who have shown the greatest improvement in their academic performance and standing through hard work and dedication. The children’s performance is verified by officials attached to the BEAM Program.

Each school kit contains 3 ruled notebooks, 3 graphite pencils, 1 package of colored pencils, 1 ruler, 1 pencil sharpener, and 1 pair of safety scissors.
