Commodity Brochures
(02/13/2008)Under the Customs Modernization Act, Congress directed the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to develop a program which would enable private laboratories to become accredited to test imported commodities so that the test results could be used for Customs purposes. The Mod Act regulations and the concept of commodity brochures were developed to implement the Mod Act legislation. A commodity group brochure lists the laboratory methods which commercial laboratories are required to have the capability to perform to qualify for CBP accreditation in a particular commodity group. At the discretion of the Executive Director, accreditation may be granted for subgroups of tests within a commodity group or for commodity groups not specifically enumerated. The HTSUS chapters and the CBP laboratory methods can be accessed from this page. The chapters listed in the table below are located under Laboratory Methods.
