Consulate Program Graduates 17 Young Palestinian Interns

With funding from U.S. Consulate, Business Women Forum (BWF), graduated, on August 11,  17 interns, who completed 120 hours of training as interns with a number of prominent Palestinian companies and NGOs throughout the West Bank.

The program was designed to recruit and attract exceptional young women to consider a broad spectrum of occupations within the Palestinian private sector.  The BWF was able to engage 17 young women and arrange for internships mainly within the business and IT sectors.  Upon completion of internships, many of the students were hired by local companies.

The program was implemented over a four-month period starting with the selection of the interns from three universities in the West Bank;  Birzeit University, Al-Quds University and Al-Najah University . Selection was then followed by a process of matching the interns with the private sector companies and then with the commencing of the practical training.  Each intern received 120 hours of training in different sections of the company assigned to them.   Coca Cola Beverages Inc.,  Jawwal Telecommunication company, Jordan Bank, Ahli Bank, Bisan software  and many more offered internship opportunities for BWF recruits.

The Program was successful in encouraging more Palestinian women to join the workforce and contribute to the Palestinian economy.
