This has my personal preferences for starting points , current maps & data , marine & tropical reports , forecasts , and sources & general information. I hope that other people find it useful. Items marked with a * are ones that I use frequently, those marked ?? have recently been unavailable or out of date.
The BNL Meteorology Group has been making meteorological measurements since 1949. Selected climatological data are available. Forecasts are made on normal working days.

The various starting points listed above are rather comprehensive and can lead to many sites. The Home Page of the American Meteorological Society points to meetings, calls for papers, and information on paper submission to AMS journals. The Royal Meteorological Society home page has information on activities in the UK as well as short list of pointers with an international flavor, One of which is METEO-FRANCE HOME PAGE.
The venerable Sources of Meteorological Data FAQ is still a most important, annotated listing. The UCAR listing of links can serve as a follow on.
