Border Patrol Agents Find Marijuana Hidden Under Truck’s Trap Door

(Thursday, February 05, 2009)

Del Rio, Texas – U.S. Customs and Protection Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio, Texas station yesterday seized nearly 300 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $230,000.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, at an immigration checkpoint north of Del Rio, a detector dog alerted to a 2001 Ford Truck. The driver was referred to a secondary inspection area where agents discovered a cut-out trap door leading to a hidden compartment containing 77 bundles of marijuana.

The driver, a 32-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested.

The subject and contraband were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Border Patrol agents in Del Rio, Texas were able to spot this hidden hatch in the floor of a truck and discover 300 pounds of marijuana.
