  • In 2006, 84.6 percent of the persons arrested in the Nation’s suburban areas were adults.
  • Adults accounted for 83.8 percent of arrests in suburban areas for violent crime and 73.4 percent of persons arrested for property crime.
  • Juveniles (persons under age 18) were most often arrested for larceny-theft offenses (78,942) and other (simple) assaults (76,248).
  • Adults were most often arrested for driving under the influence (478,384) and drug abuse violations (436,103).
  • Juveniles accounted for 51.0 percent of all persons arrested in suburban areas for arson offenses.
