Boston- Senator John Kerry today congratulated Framingham-based Staples, Inc. on being named one of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Top 25 Green Power Partners. The EPA's Green Power Partnership works with corporations and organizations that voluntarily buy green power from renewable sources including solar, wind and geothermal. Staples, Inc. purchased 121,800,000 kilowatt-hours per year of green power, the 17th highest total on the EPA's list. "I am proud that Massachusetts is home to one of America's most environmentally responsible companies," Senator Kerry said. "One of the biggest misconceptions about the ecological challenges facing America is the assumption that environmental progress and economic growth are incompatible. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Staples, Inc. has clearly shown that being good to the environment is good for the bottom line. I commend the management and employees of Staples, Inc. for their record of corporate responsibility and urge other businesses to follow their lead," said Senator Kerry. ###
