Direct reaction contributions are not 2123 1451 32 included. 2123 1451 33 2123 1451 34 Exit particles considered are neutrons, protons, alpha particles, 2123 1451 35 and deuterons. Transmission coefficients for neutrons and protons 2123 1451 36 were obtained from the optical potential of Koning and Delaroche 2123 1451 37 using the ECIS code. The transmission coefficients for alpha 2123 1451 38 particles were obtained from the optical potential of McFadden 2123 1451 39 and Satchler. Those for deuterons are from the optical potential 2123 1451 40 of Perey and Perey. Alpha and deuteron transmission coefficients 2123 1451 41 were calculated using the SCAT2 routine. A simple Lorentzian is 2123 1451 42 assumed for the E1 photon strength function, and is normalized to 2123 1451 43 measured or systematic values of the average total s-wave 2123 1451 44 radiation width at the neutron binding energy. 2123 1451 45 2123 1451 46 Backshifted Fermi gas level density parameters are derived from 2123 1451 47 measured s-wave resonance spacings where available. For other 2123 1451 48 nuclei, systematic values are adopted. At low energies a constant 2123 1451 49 temperature form is adopted, and the two formulae are matched at 2123 1451 50 an energy between the backshift and the neutron binding energy so 2123 1451 51 as to give the best possible fit to known spectroscopic levels. 2123 1451 52 2123 1451 53 Discrete levels are taken from the Reference Input Parameter 2123 1451 54 Library (RIPL) with additional evaluations performed by R.
