Forest Products NAICS
In 1997 the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) reclassified all U.S. industries under a new code – the North American Industry Classification System, or NAICS. These new classifications are being used in the Census of Manufacturers conducted by the Department of Commerce, as well as by other Federal agencies that collect data from industry. The forest products industry is segmented into the following NAICS codes based on the type of products generated. The move from SICs to NAICS resulted in some changes in the industries that are categorized under forest products manufacturing. Logging, for example, is no longer part of manufacturing.
