The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission will conduct a public hearing on Monday, July 17, 2006 on “ China’s Impact on the U.S. Auto and Auto Parts Industries.” The hearing will be held at University of Michigan, Dearborn Campus located at 19000 Hubbard Drive, Fairlane Center-Southern Entrance, Dining Room B & C, Dearborn, Michigan 48126 .

 

The hearing will examine the U.S. auto and auto parts industries, and the economic and national security implications of the growing bilateral trade and deficit with China.

 

The Commission will hear from members of Congress, including Representatives John Dingell, Thad McCotter, and Senator Debbie Stabenow, President Ron Gettelfinger of the United Auto Workers, International President Leo W. Gerard, United Steelworkers (USW), and other labor representatives. The Commission also will hear from industry representatives and academic and legal experts.

When: Monday, July 17, 2006 (8:30 am – 5:30 pm)

Reservations are not required, seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Public participation is invited during the open-microphone session for public comment at the conclusion of the afternoon session. Sign-up for open-microphone session will take place in the morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. and will be on first come, first served basis.
