The thickness of the stainless was 0.75 mm, and that of the gold 0.25 mm enriched deuterium gas was used throught, at a pressure of about 500 mm Hg. DETECTOR (NAICR) The Stanford 24 cm * 24 cm CORRECTION Corrections were made for gamma-ray absorption in the wall of the gas cell and in paraffin and other shielding materials between cell and cristall, as well as for overall detector efficiency. ERR-ANALYS (ERR-1) The uncertainties of the result from the absorption correction. (ERR-3) The uncertainty of detector efficiency and lineshape extrapolation. (ERR-4) The uncertainty of gas pressure (2-5%). (ERR-5) uncertainty in the centering of the target . Absolute cross sections are thus uncertain to 10-15%. Improper shapes for the gamma(0) or gamma(1) decay spectra due to small inaccuracies in either the theory or the detector response function could also lead to significant systematic error in the relative size of the gamma(1) cross section. Cross sectiions at 90 degr. were measured for excitation energies in 5Li from 17.1 to 26.5 MeV.
