Abstract	This article discusses plans for services into the Netherlands over HSL-Zuid that have been announced by the Belgian railway company SNCB. However, issues with the Dutch High Speed Alliance (HSA0 remain to be resolved. The plan calls for the replacement of the Benelux service in December 2007 with SNCB-HSA service of 16 trains daily each way. HSA has yet to commit due to issues relating to the European Train Control System (ETCS). The ETCS will ultimately replace 14 different train control systems currently in use in Europe with a standardized technology, enabling interoperable train transportation.
