in-crop-weather State Indiana Crop Weather Week Ending Date November 13, 2005 Issue IN-CW4605 ----------------- FINAL 2005 REPORT ----------------- Agricultural Summary As harvest comes to an end, farmers have been cleaning and winterizing equipment, according to the Indiana Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Many farmers continue with fall tillage and having fertilizer and lime spread. Paper work will now be high on the priority list in preparation for tax season. Field Crops Report There were 5.9 days suitable for field work. Ninety-six percent of the corn has been harvested compared with 92 percent for last year and 91 percent for the average. By area, 95 percent of the corn acreage is harvested in the north, 95 percent in the central region, and 97 percent in the south. Moisture content of harvested corn is averaging about 16 percent. Ninety-nine percent of the soybean acreage has been harvested compared with 96 percent last year and 97 percent for the average. Virtually all the soybean acreage has been harvested in the northern and central regions of the state and about 96 percent has been harvested in the south. Moisture content of harvested soybeans continues to average about 12 percent. Virtually all of the winter wheat acreage has now been planted. Ninety-six percent of the winter wheat acreage has emerged compared with 83 percent last year and 90 percent for the average. Livestock, Pasture and Range Report Fall pastures continue to improve, helped by the recent rain showers. Livestock remain in mostly good condition. Feeding of hay continues on some livestock farms.
