All I can say, is DON’T get shot. And DON’T turn out to be the Anti-Christ. Cuz there is a lot of talk about that. And don’t screw around with war either. You can be a powerful nation without getting your noses in everybody elses business and sending in the Military. I’m from Canada myself, and there is a time to send the boys in, and a time to sit back and wait things out. Don’t jump on war everytime you think you need to just because of gut feelings and the thrill of battle. It’s not cool. Anyhow, Good Luck, and make America kick BUTT (since I can’t swear on this, I lost the emphasis.) -Orisha

Dear Mr President
“Cometh the hour, cometh the man”. I would hope that history will tell future generations how the first Black American President shaped the then known world. I would also like to remind you of another very pertinent statement. ” Power corrupts, and absolute power, corrupts absolutely”. I would hope that this would not be said of you. Sir, I know that you know, nothing happens per chance. This is your opportunity to impact the world positively. My prayer for you is that GOD would endow your with Godly wisdom to fulfill your destiny, and in that, HE would BLESS America.

Congratulations! I am very happy about this result. It means that there is hope for prosperity and peaceful development in USA.
Neoconservative policies under Bush have been disastrous for us all. It feels like a nightmare is now over.
The difficulties that 8 years of failed policies have created are huge. With Obama as president it seems that there is at least a chance to take a better course instead of keeping hitting an iceberg after another.
Best of luck for USA and thank you for making this good decision!

Dear Mr. President-
I have no idea if you will be able to read these comments at all but my hope is that you will see them. I am an american citizen living in Mauritius until the 20th of December. I am amazed at how much the mauritian people know about our country and the election. I am embarrassed to say that I know nothing about Mauritian politics. Mauritius along with the rest of the world seems to be on your side!
I remember the day that I walked down to the post office to submit my absentee ballot with your name bubbled in - it was then that I began to pray like mad! I have never been more proud to be an American and I have had a permanent grin on my face all day long and hope that it stays there for the next four years (at least)! You are a true inspiration and I believe that you will institute much needed changes in our country. It is a rarity that we are viewed in such a positive light on the world’s stage. Please keep it up!
Best of luck to you and God Bless America,
Kallay
P.S. I would like to share a comment with you that I received from a coworker today -
If Americans can vote for an African American president, then Mauritius should be able to have a catholic or muslim president/prime minister. I was so incredibly proud and touched that this statement was spoken to me - you have touched many a life around the globe!

I tried very hard to stay awake in Windsor UK to witness the tipping point live on TV, but 04.00 here was too late! It was no less thrilling to watch Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at 07.00, and to witness history in the making.
As the Senator said, it is going to be a long haul and a tough first term, but the democracies of the World are behind you Mr President-elect, and we are holding our breath hoping that all the promises of your campaign can be achieved.
Today was a pivotal moment for our Planet, and that is not hype. Witness the celebrations in Kenya! Maybe Africa will start the long path to membership of the developed world today as one important result of this election.

Dear Mr. Obama,
I’m elated that you have been named among the many historic events of this world. To become the first African- American in the White House is a hugh success and one that our families and your family will live to remember. I know God will be your guide. Perseverance, temperance, humility, love and edurance, being the fruits of the spirit you will need along with God’s strength, grace and mercy… I live in Jamaica and I visit your country from time to time for vacation purposes. You have caused our generation to be interested and overwhelmed by the campaign and speeches that we’ve experienced within the last 24 months.
As a speaker you drive the attention of the literate and the illiterate to capture an audience in such a way, that when you’re done we say WOOW!!.
Your task at hand is a very challenging one, especially when the world is now experiencing a time of recession. It’s time to rebuild and see how best your country can work together..
We say , Yes we can, Yes we can…

Congratulations to you Sr. and to your country for such an exemplary election. I am a Cuban living in Canada and couldn’t be more delighted with your win.
I hope you can see beyond the selfishness of some Cuban Americans and Cubans alike who make a living out of the embargo. I hope you realize that keeping the embargo is the best way to help the totalitarian government in Cuba to stay in power by using it as a excuse for its failures; as a justification for neglecting its people.
I know lifting the Cuban Embargo ain’t an easy task. You will find resistance from within your lines but above all you will find resistance from the Cuban Government. They will do whatever it takes to give the reason to those who oppose the lifting of the embargo; be it imprisoning dissidents or taking planes down or any other horrendous thing.
I have hope in your ability to overcome all this and I know many in Cuba today are feeling the same.
I wish you, your beautiful family and your great country all the best.
Sincerely.

I live in a city described by Ava Gardner when filming ‘On the Beach’ as the end of the world - Melbourne Australia (it is not true by the way….).
I had the result updating on my computer and stopped work to watch Senator Obama’s acceptance speech.
A country so often portrayed poorly and aggressively was mature enough to elect a smart, articulate leader and prove that the qualities of a true leader can overcome the history of racism.
Even though it means little practically here, the world is better of today for the United States of America to have elected Senator Obama.

My heartily congratulations to Mr. Barack Obama for having got American people’s urge fulfilled toward bringing a constructive change in America, a change for better life to them. Not only for them, it ‘will be’ a change for some new for also the people in other part of the world. Obviously this change must be implicitly toward serving the mankind of the whole of world, and it is hoped very much so.
Mr. Barack seems to possess some such unique personality traits that his countrymen like very much and which may most probably prove to be good also in the interests of the people in the rest of the world. As President of a large nation he owes the responsibility to take care of the whole world implicitly for its peaceful coexistence. And it is hoped that he will crtainly do this great task in the interests of not only his nationals but also other nationals. He seems to possess a strong will to execute what ought to be done rightfully.
It seems that Mr. Barack may prove to be a good person for the people of India too, especially toward making better relations with not only the government but also the people of India.
May God bless him a good administrative life time toward a great success in his mission for the people of America!
Thanks.

After sitting up all night watching the results, I woke up my six-year old African daughter here in N’Djamena, Chad to listen to you make your wonderful acceptance speech. We told our daughter that she would one day tell her children about this occasion. She was more impressed by your daughters on stage with you. We were also amazed to hear already on the streets of N’Djamena, at that early hour, shouts of Obama, Obama. While you have many serious challenges ahead, be comforted in the knowledge that you have the best wishes and support of billions of other people of good will throughout the world who look to your Presidency to try to make a more just society, not only in the U.S., but throughout the world. Many are hoping that your suggestion of distribution of wealth may trickle down to their level and lift some from the hopelessness and misery in which they presently strive to feed and educate their children, and to instill hope in their lives. May God bless and support you in the days ahead. “As you have Faith, so shall your powers and blessings be. This is the balance…”

Congratulations to President-elect Obama, you and your followers have fought and won a brilliant election campaign. You made history on Tuesday night and it is well deserved and refreshing in this current global downturn.
America has suddenly morphed itself from being a caterpillar into a butterfly and Americans have shown the rest of the world that they can put their past behind them and move forward. Your road ahead is going to be difficult and you have entered the Presidency at an extremely difficult time, but I feel certain you have the strength, backing of your people and charisma to achieve all that you have promised.
Good luck and God bless you and America.

This event is the greatest ever event in the
history of modern World. Congratulation to the fellow
U S Citizens who writes their history in the golden
letters of humanity. The circle is complete. We should
remember the leaders who dare to rewrite the history
Abraham Lincoln who fought the civil war to free the
so called niggers from the slavery. The great Martin
Luthar King and John F Kenedy all of them lost their
life to establish the equality of mankind. Congratulation
Mr. Obama for being the first color President of USA

Our home congratulates Barrack Obama even though he did not win our votes. May he be safe and may he keep the many promises that he has made to the American people, and in turn, the world. His Bi-racial presence should end the constant use of the race card, which has grown so tiresome here in the states and show the user’s of the race card that blacks finger pointing and whining simply will never apply again in the United States of America.
God Bless.

Congratulations! A new hope for the American people to restore their international relations with the rest of the world. Perhaps we might even visit the U.S. in a few years time without the fear of being barked at or treated like criminals by U.S. Immigration officers or being told to “press as hard as you would hit your kids!” in front of my children during the thumbprint process at the YVR last summer!!

First & most important , Congratulations on your victory, all without draging McCain through the mud, unlike they done to you. This only proves you the better man. I Have researched for 1 year now on green source of heating our homes here in U.S.and have found a very efficient means of clean heat that is used world wide. The problem is that it is not promoted in U.S. for some odd reason. I have built homes and farmed all my adult life & would like to promote this heat to save families 1000,s. Can you help ?

Barack Obama, you have come on the center stage and every common man across the world is looking at you with askance eyes for peace and prosperity which has been snatched away from their midst in last two months in twinkle of an eye. It has become so difficult to restore the confidence in the average man in his capacity to survive the onslaught which has been unleashed on him like a hurricane.

The English language has not yet created enough words to praise Obama and his historico-heroic victory. Obama does not just have qualities he is a kind of special man that the Almighty gives every nation at its turn to CHANGE. Unfortunately we Africans, kill ours(Lumumba,Sankara…). Imagine if Obama had run the presidential race in Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso or Kenya; if not killed he would have been declared a foreigner. This victory is a message to the Africans. YES YOU too CAN develop if you allow your mind to develop. Good luck Obama and may your half brothers from the mother continent learn from your experience

As an American I have looked at the posts on this site and any reference to Barrack Obama being the new Martin Luther King jr. are way of base. Mr King was against violence, he was a good man v Obama who sat in Rev Wrights church full of hate for America and white people. Mr. King would have been disgusted by Obama’s spiritual advisor! No one can compare the 2 men..it is simply impossible.

I am curious to see how soon these many many changes your have promised will start to take affect. Finally, finally, finally, the majority of the American people saw through the fear based rhetoric. There is hope. I would like to see a future America that provides equal rights for ALL Americans. I am talking about the right for my same sex partner to be eligible to receive my SS when I die. Then I will fly the American Flag with pride. Until then I am still part of a minority who do not have equal rights. Religious beliefs are based on the bible an d beliefs not constitutional law.

The candidate with the most money to buy huge air time/exposure, won. There was not one MSM evening news program that focused on both candidates equally and with 700 million dollars, much unaccounted for, Barrack Obama - per Axlerod, was able to force feed the American people. So lets hope that he is a decent president, that he does not screw the working people to the wall through higher capital gains taxes and 39% taxe on our retirements….but he said he will? And lets hope that his Christian beliefs come into play for the babies ( Hope Memorial Hospital, Chicago ) that survive being ripped from the womb only to be condemned to death at the hand of Obama.
God Bless us all and guide Obama to be a better and an honest man.

This election proves that the United States of America is a true democracy with equal opportunities for every Citizen.
It was very disturbing to read in Indian news paper Times of India that one of his newly selected aides- Sonal Shah- has VHP (Vishwa Hindu Parishad) links, and she is also a funds collector for that organization.
This selection may not go well with Obama’s objective of ending terrorism in the world. Recent happenings in India will speak more on this

Pres.-Elect Obama,
Congradulations on your victory, becoming the next President of the U.S. with opportunitiew to help facilitate progressive changes here and in the world.
I would lobby for two areas of concern early: 1) hold off on signing an agreement with Poland or The Czech Republic on the Missle Defense System. Instead use more diplomacy with Russia and Iran indicating the desire to cancel the System and grant considerations in the region. This could well prevent a nuclear confrontation.
(2) join the International Treaties, Agreements, Accords. Presently, at least, a)Ban on Cluster Bombs, Dec.3 in Oslo, Norway, 2) Ban on Landmines, in effect, 3) Kyoto agreement 4) World Court 5) Arms Trade Treaty, now in the UN.
By joining with other countries the U.S. would show solidarity for progressive developments, an end to political isolation, and s stance against globalization without control or regulation.
Thanks for your consideration in these matters. good luck…to you and your family.

First and foremost, ONGRATULATIONS, and may God continue to guide you.
Thank you for making yourself so accessible to us, the people!
This is the first time I’ve attempted to reach anyone of your agnitude.
You’ve proven that technology does work and that you’re not standoffish about its use. My only hesitation, now, is that you may not see this because of your busy schedule and pending priorities.
I, like millions of other Americans, truly need someone’s help!
After nineteen and one half years at Washington University, I was told that my services were no longer required and no assistance with relocating was offered. Of course after loosing the job, the insurance went, the savings went, and now my home is scheduled for foreclosure on December 1, 2008.
I can’t file for a chapter 13 bankruptcy because I don’t have adequate income - (288.00 per week); the mortgage before it went delinquent - 1461.15 per month. I purchased and paid for my home for over 11 years without a husband, mother, father or family, I am a single mother of two, one of whom - the nineteen year old - lives with me and is diligently seeking employment as I am. Whew!!!
America needs help. I need help quickly and don’t know who to ask or where to go; my church is a struggling one, I have no family in St. Louis, the out-of-state family is crying also.
I do plan to visit Lacy Clay’s office, here in St. Louis, again and Better Family Life, but without a job, my and their hands are tied.
Whatever you can do, say, or print, I will cherish and use quickly. I really don’t know where to go, and want to stay in my home, if at all possible. Please direct me to help. Thank you very much.

Dear Mr. Obama,
Congrats on your Party’s landslide victory!
The euphoria in the United States as well as in the rest of the world on your ascendancy to the highest office of the world’s hyperpower is undoubtedly a historic moment . From your campaign speeches, from your book” The Audacity of Hope”- Thoughts of Reclaiming the American Dream’ such victory was highly calculable.
I deem you will emerge as a technician who is best equipped to fix broken policies, repair the system, and get America working once again.
God bless you, the United States of America, & the citizens of the world.
Stay in sound physique.

Dear president, dear bearer of hope, dear redeemer of the great American nation from the dark forces of evil (the neoconservatives- that have endowed America with the most hateful ,the most repulsive president that they have known in their entire history!!!), dear Barak Obama, welcme to the steer of the great America! Please hasten to clean the White house it must smell.. The task awaiting you is tremendous but you are up to it i am sur! please clean your surroundind from the neo conservatives they are really BAD!!! get america back to the world friendship and admiration, Use the might of your nation for justice, for equity and for the right of the down troden nations and poeples such as the Palestinian and the Iraki peoples. Please be more courageou more decisive than Bill Clinton with respect to the Palestinian issue, for if you solve this problem all the other issues of the middle east would be easy to handle and the perception of the Arab and Moslem nations of America would change positively. With respect to Mauritania please be informed that the Us Ambassador to Mauritania was emotioally involved in the political crisis that had bfolen the country of late ( he took side with one of the antagonists ,while he should have remained even handed to remain reliable . Such a crisis has lead to Mauritania being ridden from A very corrupt president democratically elected and who deceived the Mauritanian people who has come to discover the nature of the man they have elected too late.Yet the mauritanians would be gratful to you mister President to exert pressure for democracy to be retrenched anew in the country without the former president who is hated by every body here apart from the American Ambassador to Mauritania, who is a gift of Mister Bush to Mauritania.
Mister President, dear Obama welcome to America , welcome to the world as spring to earth!!!!!
GOD BLESS YOU GOD BLESS AMERICA God Inspire America to throw the neo conservatives into the dustbin of history where they belong!

Congratulations president elect Obama,
I was thinking today of creating the invitation for you and your family president elect Obama to meet with the newly elected chief of the Huron People, the past 40 year chief Max G Louis of the Huron Nation, the representatives descendant from the original successive European settlers and some current day leaders in Quebec, Canada and the US. What a perfect place in the chiefs tent then for Senator McCain and president elect Obama to smoke the peace pipe and with the chiefs looking forward to a new day.
When past president Kennedy visited the Quebec region he left an everlasting impression of a world leader connecting with “we the people” who take the most pride in preserving our national treasures. I think it’s time to whiteness the right in America today for a cultural declaration of independence by signing the original Thomas Jefferson 4th of July declaration of independence together into the future. I am from a people who cohabitate with our neighbors richly enhancing our cultural differences. As a representative of the original family that has coexisted in an ongoing piece between our neighbors who have hosted us from the start I am privileged to make the historic meeting real. We the people as Americans have always cherished and fostered our unity of spirit and individuality together. As 11th generation born American I will witness our renewed commitments to mankind as if I had been the living July 4, 1776. We the people rise together in tradition uniquely created by our friendships in history to declare our historic presence to this day. Our North American roots bind our connection to preserving our freedoms together. From the hearts of we the people I invite our neighbors once more to make our declaration together with the chief of the original hosts of Americans in North America, the Huron’s. Our neighbors today still celebrate our never ending peace. It doesn’t get more inviting as we will keep safe our trusted neighbors. A historic chance meeting with Benedict Arnold is always repeated for everyone to cherish as just a single of numerous good wills expressed by our native and cross Atlantic origins. I thank my grandfathers for blessing me with a rich heritage that shares in our American Dreams together. I am guided by histories finest moments when I sincerely make my invitation to our new world leader of the USA to my home in Quebec. Congratulations to president elect Obama. The world is ready, willing and able to be lead in some historic moments that heal and revitalize our mutual spirits of life, liberty and justice for all. We the people are kindred spirits through time and our age has come full circle as we embark on a growing cycle of continued peace. As an American I am proud of our direction together.

Africa suffered lots of injustice over the past few ceturies. I hope that President Obama will be able to help this beautiful continent to benefit from their resources.
The planet is suffering from human greed. Perhaps people will appreciate the meaning of the words: enough is enough.
Let’s all look after the planet Earth. If each and every one takes care of their own patch the globe will be cared for. We all travel together on this spaceship Earth so why not enojy the trip!
The African friends I had at Warsaw School of Economics were full of joy and fun. Let’s hope the rest of the world can learn from them how life in a comunity can be a source of happiness. Let’s dance more like the African people do!
The world has become such a small place. It is time we all learn to respect each other , live and let live.
This constant chase for astronomical size profits must stop. There is more to life then money alone. Moderation can free the time for life!
I do hope that President Obama can get enough support from everybody around the world to create more humane societies, where human psychological needs are taken into account and not just bank accounts. Let’s appreaciate people for what they are and not for what they have. Let’s learn from each other and stop trying to make the whole world like one big McDonald and Coca-cola.
Long live the differences! There is beauty in diversity.
The environment needs our urgent attention and moderation.
God Bless President Obama.

All though I did not vote for Obama, I do wish him the best of luck. I hope that Mr.Obama, will start troop withdrawl’s during his first six months in office, as stated during his campain!
Starting on the 20 January 2009, America will be governed by one party the Democratic party. If “Change” does not happen don’t blame the Republicans…Blame Obama and the rest of the democrats.
Also, to the people who think America should just give visa’s out like candy think again! The U.S. has the world’s third largest population and cannot accept every person who thinks they should be able to live in America. American’s find it very difficult to legally live in other country’s around the world and it should like wise be the same for you as well.
I here so much talk from many people in Russia about how much they hate America and then ask questions on online fourm’s of how to get a greencard or how to find an American to marry and become legal in that regard. Sorry, people of the world we American’s have simply had enough and have our own problem’s to take care of here in America! Good day…

Someone above mentioned their hopes about Obama not taking the “big oil” lobbyists money………FACT: Obama took more money from Mobil/Exxon than McCain. There are some aspects of Obama that are no different than any other presidents/politicians who walked before him. Use sense people and examine his character now that the 700 million dollar show is over! NO more bright lights and fire works from the Obama camp, which was meticulously performed for the world stage, but the hard reality now that the electoral colege got their wish. Watch, study, pay attention to the near future..get over the “ga ga” stage and focus with intelligence.
James, Yes, you are so right and I gree with you re Illegal/legal immigration. 90% of the people on this site bash America yet we allow 700 thousand immigrants here legally every year and another 12 - 20 are here ILLEGALLY. 10 Americans are murdered evry day ,on USA soil, by ILLEGAL immigrants eg. murder, vehicular homocide, rape & then murder etc etc, more than soldiers lost in Iran and Afghanistan. It is time that America tighten her borders and people of other countries focus on making their countires better and stronger. Americans pay billions for illegal immigrants health care, housing, welfare checks…so all of you who slander my great country, look at the reality of our generosity and at this point my forced generosity!

This life we live should not be about colour of the skin.
The fact that Obama won should not have drawn much attention if he was a white man, which tells us that RACISM is still lingering on in the minds of millions of people all around the world.
Obama cannot be God who can bring peace , obama is just a figure to the many blacks that want to excel, so let us put away this ideal of taking special notice of Him because he won an election in his country.
Though I am a BLACK man from africa I do not see reasons why we should make noise about him.
let me say this, if we continue with this axiom of black and white, a time will come that when blacks get into positions of power they would like to pay back, which could lead to another crisis in this -world with soft heart-.
We need to be careful to deal with a situation; history as this, so we do not bring back the battles which Luther has fought for and I say; this time it will not be for blacks to be free, but for whites to be free.We are all one let us be together , plane together, work together and not see Obama as pay back offering, but as any other president so He do not take a decision that will bring strife to our seemingly dying world.
I speak as man and not like an angel.

The black man has never been allowed to evolved in his own context - relegion, politics, ideology and education. So the the human race have been drprived of our unimaginable talent. Perhaps now with Obama the world will learn to accept that we are capable of achieving anything given the chance. This campaign was very brutal but Obama and his supporters worked very hard to demolish every obsticle put in their way. So I thank everybody who was involved in helping Obama achieve his dream for the world.
He will not do much for us as a people but his presence alone in the white house is enough for now. God help him and all his supporters.

You need to withdraw all troops from Iraq in conjunction with the current Iraq government as soon as possible. No matter how long we are there, the region will NEVER be secure and a peace sustainable. The Iraq citizens must make their own painful way, as we did after the Civil War. There will be deaths and carnage any time we leave, now or in 10 years. We need the billions we are spending there for our other war and for this country’s pressing needs. We just can’t do it all.

Hello dear Mr the President,
Now I am writitng to you, I am not sure you will read my comment personnaly. For, I know how you are vfery busy. But, at the whole least, I should thank you all there, you and your team of campaign with giving us the opportunity to coment your victory.
Well, with winning the White House, the U.S.A. just gave a lesson abour Democracy and tolerence for, we were many to think about your victory to be impossible. But, as I know, your authority just comes from the Lord GOD as the Bibkle says in Romans 12:1. Then, when being about to take your committment to rule the USA and the world acording to the Biblical, I mean the Christian light by putting your hand on the Holy Bible, you have to ( I am not ordering to you, please) rule the US Democracy as the Bible says.
the USA is always seen like a mirror hence you have a very heavy responsibility.
I heard about the abortion law you need to edit or change. But the Bible is forbiding it. And you are a proof of that since if you parenmts did not want you to come in birth, you will never become the first agfricaAmerican to win the White House.
Dear Mr the President, everybody is waiting for a lot from you. With beginning with the Financial Crisis, I will only pray for youa nd all your team so that you may reach again the White House in 2012.
As to myself, you victory just saw that racism is just about history ans story in the new USA.

Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship
By BEN EVANS – 1 hour ago
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Republican congressman from Georgia said Monday he fears that President-elect Obama will establish a Gestapo-like security force to impose a Marxist or fascist dictatorship.
“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force,” Rep. Paul Broun said of Obama in an interview Monday with The Associated Press. “I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.”
Broun cited a July speech by Obama that has circulated on the Internet in which the then-Democratic presidential candidate called for a civilian force to take some of the national security burden off the military.
“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”
Obama’s comments about a national security force came during a speech in Colorado about building a new civil service corps. Among other things, he called for expanding the nation’s foreign service and doubling the size of the Peace Corps “to renew our diplomacy.”
“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” Obama said in July. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
Broun said he also believes Obama likely will move to ban gun ownership if he does build a national police force.
Obama has said he respects the Second Amendment right to bear arms and favors “common sense” gun laws. Gun rights advocates interpret that as meaning he’ll at least enact curbs on ownership of assault weapons and concealed weapons. As an Illinois state lawmaker, Obama supported a ban on semiautomatic weapons and tighter restrictions on firearms generally.
“We can’t be lulled into complacency,” Broun said. “You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I’m not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I’m saying is there is the potential.”
Obama’s transition office did not respond immediately to Broun’s remarks.

Broun says Obama ‘Marxist’
By Donnie Fetter| Columbia County Bureau Chief
Saturday, November 08, 2008175
U.S. Rep. Paul Broun attacked President-elect Barack Obama’s agenda as “Marxist” and derided some fellow Republicans for abandoning conservative principles during a speech in Augusta on Friday, his first since being re-elected in Georgia’s 10th District.
Special
U.S. Rep. Paul Broun
Click photo for options”In my opinion, we’ve elected a Marxist to be president of the United States,” Mr. Broun, R-Watkinsvile, said during a luncheon of the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club at the Doubletree Hotel.
The remark led Rotarian Lucinda Williams to defend Mr. Obama and question the intelligence of Sen. John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Mr. Broun qualified his remark, saying he believes Mr. Obama’s policies of bigger government and shared wealth are Marxist.
“When Barack Obama is right, then I’ll support him,” he said. “When he is wrong, I’ll fight him.”
Mr. Broun also criticized Mr. McCain.
“I’m very disappointed with the McCain campaign,” he said. “In my opinion, it was inept.”
He said he believes Mr. McCain failed to adequately differentiate himself from President Bush and embrace conservative values.

The US financial crisis greatly affects its economy and other countries as well. In the past presidential election, the community has the chance to vote for the new steward and country leader. Roaring victory sounded off through-out the world as they announced America’s next Commander in Chief. Congratulations, Mr. Barack Obama on becoming the 44th President of the United States. Your endurance is beyond admirable as you have come to the end of your 22-month campaign, emerging with victory. If you thought the campaign was rough, wait until you actually dive into the issues that await you with the American economy. In actuality, your journey has just begun. You have proposed a number of different stimulus packages in recent weeks regarding the financial system and we all know our ailing economy must be stabilized. The two targets that will most likely score you points on both sides are your ideas about temporarily exempting the unemployed from having to pay tax on their unemployment benefits and temporarily exempting seniors from having to make annual withdrawals from their IRAs and 401Ks after age 70 ½. Yet, the largest issue should be keeping the bailout/credit repair that Bush started on track. You must stem the tide of real estate foreclosures and change the outlook of financial regulation, making it “more transparent.” At this point, Mr. President-Elect you already have a wide range of tough work cut out for you. Oh, but for those good old carefree campaign days…. Click to read more on <a

THE AMERICAN FLAG
The 1st fold of our flag is a symbol of life.
The 2nd fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life.
The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing our ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.
The 4th fold represents our weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance.
The 5th fold is a tribute to our country, for in the words of Stephen Decaur, “Our Country”, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.
The 6th fold is for where our hearts lie. It is with our heart that We pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
The 7th fold is a tribute to our Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that we protect our country and our flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our republic.
The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day.
The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded.
The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for defense of our country since they were first born.
The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.
The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding us of our nation’s motto, “In God We Trust.”
After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, Ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for us the rights, privileges and freedoms we enjoy today.
There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you’ll see flags folded and now you will know why. Share this with the children you love and all others who love the symbol of “Liberty and Freedom.”

I am from the Republic of Congo.I was very thrilled and excited to know that OBAMA is now the first african American male president.People around the world has to acknowledge, according to me, that the United States constitution is only from now on valued because we have seen what they call ”EQUALITY…” People can have the rights to scream out loud that ” all things are possible if we can only make them possible….YES WE DID!!!
I would rather that the president-elect-barack-obama brought change to not only America but also to all the different corners of the world. You have one of the biggest duties that any president of the U.S. will ever encounter in the white house. You’d better get the U.S. economy back on its feet, stop wars that are not worth beeing wagged and much more if you really wanna make the world a better and safer place for these generations and the future ones.GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL NATIONS AROUND THE WORLD!

Your Excellency The Present-Elect,
With pleasure and great honour, I would like to congratulate you on your success.May the Almighty God bless you by granting wisdom like King Solomon who prayed for wisdom and God granted him wisdom, honour, riches and longer life to judge Israel.[IIChron.1:7-12]. So, I wish you all the best in order to form a good democratic government with intellectuls who can work through implementation of the planned activities for Americans as well as Africans even the entire world.
Also God encouraged Joshua to be strong and courageous after the death of Moses.I also encourage you to be strong and courageous in order to govern well through the rule of Law, Human Rights and Democracy.
Democracy is not only in theory but in practice also, therefore, you need to be practical in dealing with issues of the government of America and the entire world. Many world leaders have failed to govern their countries because of egocentric mind and corruption. They do not think about the welfare of the people. They just think about their own affairs. Read Philippians 2:1-3.
If Africans were to vote, we would have voted for you as well due to you your intellectual mind of planning, problem solving and vision for the future.
African leaders like Robert Gabriel Mugabe are autocratic who want to cling to power without thinking of the welfare of the people of Zimbabwe. I know for sure as a Democract, you will follow democratic principles through Human Rights Law under the United Nations Declaration Human Rights Charter.
I would like to request you that your vision should focus on the African people as well. Countries like DRC.Congo, Rwanda, Somali and Burundi have been affected by war and many civilians lose their lives due to poor governance. Africa should be provided with socio-economic development projects so as to boost the economy for sustainable development. This will be one way of reducing poverty. In addition, there is a need to establish Vocational Training Centres for the Vulnerable groups through different N.G.O.s. My suggestion about funding, is that, the N.G.O.s should be funded directly by the sponsoring donor community and not that the Donor Community should provide the funds to the governments. The Central Governments do not support the N.G.O.s. Some N.G.O.s support Vulnerable Groups such as orphans due to HIV/AIDS pandemic but the governments do not sponsor those N.G.O.s instead, those N.G.O.s support the Vulnerable Groups through their own contribution which is unfair. For instance, I represented TANZANIA ORPHAN CARE, an N.G.O. which was established on 28th December, 2005 and registered on 26th May, 2006. It has operated for almost two and a half years. So, as the Secretary-General of that N.G.O., I represented it at the meeting of World Bank officials. I stated about what the N.G.O. does to the community and the officials were satisfied but the government up to now, has never funded us. This is just one example.
To the side of education, many of us fail to proceed with further studies due to poverty; but we thank the U.S.A. Government for establishing various programs whereby many Tanzanians can be able to travel to the U.S.A. to persue their studies. This is done by the good services at the U.S.A. Embassy. The people are really working hard to assist us. So, these programs should should continue to assist us in socio-economic development of our country.
Your Excellecy The Present-Elect, I wish you all the best in your career. May God bless you abundantly; let Him secure your life so that you may assist the entire world. Long Live Barack Obama and Family!
Yours faithfully,
Duncan Henry Sisya.

Your Excellecy The President-Elect,
I would also like to support your idea of withdrawal of American soldiers from Iraq and Afghanstan. Let them be independent under their democratic governments. War has caused a number of civilians to lose their lives. So, I hope you will succeed in dealing with the matter.

Dear Mr. President:
Congratulations on your rise to presidency! I look forward to a more peaceful world with you at the helm of one of the greatest powerhouses in the world. I know some world leaders and some big businessess may not have supported you, but we the people do! The world needs change. You have promised many things in your campagin, and I know it takes time to fullfil those changes but you can do it! From my Canadian perspective, I see what I based as a racist, deceitful, pushy country…changing…with YOU! Your approach to your campagin was well-serving, calm and peaceful, hardly any mudslinging which I like. So far, I see your America, being friendlier with other nations while you focus on bringing back the USA to a nice place to live. I also have a secondary vested interest in watching you grow as President, as my husband is Cuban born, came to Canada 2 years ago. I hope that you will help Cuba, not by rushing in to take-over, but by realizing that the people are not the government and despite what we in the free-worlds think, Cuban citizens don’t get to have a “free” say in how aid is handed out, or how they run their lives. This country needs help and since you are the closest country, it needs your help! I understand from my husbands relatives many who live in Miami that they think you Mr. President are unhappy with all the Cubans/Mexicans in the USA, you need to work at changing this attitude with them, they need you. I explained to them that it was not true, that I feel you want to STOP the allowance of immigrants from Cuba landing on the soil (by the new ‘berlin’ wall erected), as so many lives are taken in the ocean. The incentive to live in America should not be for those that try and fail, to lose their lives. That you will allow Cubans into your country via the correct process. The only thing Mr. President is that it should be a sliding scale of cost, as I am pushing for in Canada, because many countries, Cuban people included have no possibility of raising the money necessary to process the applications. Why not then allow people to apply, and then to put a $2000.00 loan in place once you accept them, and allow them to pay it back similar to a school loan. This will give a chance to all people around the world. Canada is Canada because of immigation. We realize here that it is a mosaic of people that make us Canadian and we are a place where most people want to live. However, that said, our immigration laws and processess have a long way to go also in being fair to all people. My own husbands process took 18 months and we were married…very unfair. I hope you get this message, and I just want to say again, Congratulations, you have brought not only hope to Americans, but to the world. You have a lot on your plate with that statement, but if you remember who elected you and work for them not the government payroll, you will be a success! It was time for a change and you are it!

Both youy and I know that The President of the Unuited Staes of America, DOES NOT GOVERN THE COUNTRY, only the powerfull LOBBIES whom “BUY OUT” members of the Senate , Legislature, Judiciary and the House of Representatives do. Do you believe that these very powerful LOBBIES will allow you to have enough say so about what to do in America for AMERICANS?????
If you do not do anything else than to get totally away from controlling the cultivation of COCA in BOLIVIA, PERU, ECUADOR and COLOMBIA, and doing away with the OLIGARCHY of the DEA you will be saving a great deal of money. For the past 45 years this country has spent 5 BILLION DOLLARS PER COUNTRY to do away with the cultivation of Coca in those four Countries. 45 years times 5 Billion times 4 countries = 900 Billion US$. Do you know what people ready to loose their homes today, can do with that kind of money now going to COCA producing Countries while the consumtion of COCANE arround the world has INCREASED instead of being terminated. Please do not get in the MERRY GO ARROUND of the DEA like your predecessors have done. Just stop it and give that same money already appropriated to the very poor of the USA.

Obama’s recent victory at the polls was a result of hardwork, dilligence and focus to set goals by him and his team. The US people have demonstrated that true democracy really resides with them, and that the nation is one that gives equal rights/opportunities to the citizens irrespective of colour or race.
Back home in Nigeria here, most of us were of the belief that the election would be rigged in favour of Mccain to favour the whites even if Obama wins. We were proved wrong and we are happy for our goofs. That is America for us all to learn from at all times.
Anyway, congratulations to Obama, Africans and Americans on the surface of the earth for making the dream of Martin-Luther King jnr a reality after several decades. God bless Obama, Africa, America and the entire world.
My message to Obama on full assumption of office is to remember the son of whom he is by making a clear positive difference in the life of his people and the world at large. Peace, Progress and Development in all ramifications must be his vision for the Americans and mankind. Mo fi Olorun si e, you will not stumble. Congrats.

A well deserved victory. Mr Obama, your victory reflects the desire by Americans for a change. It is also an indication that if the US is to maintain its role, there has to be some responsible leadership that a universe from a wholistic point of view. Unilateralism is taking the US no where. You indeed have an opportunity to reall reassure not only Americans but the entire human race that indeed “change has come”

Do we still painfully expect to see the likes of Mugabe (Zimbabwe) and Kibaki (Kenya) for their power-sharing strategies aimed at perpetuating their stay in office! Then in Nigeria, can we have such outcome of a presidential election based on “contemporary issues” where the candidate of a ruling party can be beaten! I have a dream that an Obama presidency would make obvious impact in sanitizing our political agenda in Africa. We should be getting it right, now!

He has the attraction and the opportunity to be loved by the people all around the world he is very talented and intelligent if he wants to be leader of the whole humanity by hearts he must read and follow the story of syrus the great,s life who 2500 years ago ordered the first human rights and when he decided to go to babylon (iraq-today) to freed peoples in exile especially juish all the peoples wellcomed him and there was not even one drop of blood. he loved all the peoples around the world, that was the reson, he could be leader of the whole world at that time (29 countries of today) and everybody in any country, which called satrapy (state) was living happy with security, peace and love. alexander the great was a follower, successor and lover of syrus the great because his father, philip got him a persian scientist professor to teach him, how to be a great leader and he teached him, the way syrus the great leaded the world and was loved by everyone. barak obama is a man who can go in anybodies home anywhere in any countries, not by army, not from the borders, doors or windows but by hearts.he must talck and act like he love every body anywhere in the world. he must speak about the unity of humanity he must be sure if the other countries ,people love him, american people would be proud of their leader and love him .in the history an important and critical and special moment like today is very rare, barak obama today has chance and all the opportunities and 100% talent and ability to be the world leader he must have talented and worldwide wiewer cosultants. congratulation to american who made the right decision http://www.geocities.com/shahidiarchitect/

As someone whose photojournalist husband covered the civil rights movement in Mississippi in 1964, and was inspired by what he saw, I am happy that the sacrifices of those who fought for racial justice helped this moment in American history to arrive.
There is much to be done. Among my hopes is that everyone in the public and in the coming Obama administration will read the prophetic words of Nobel prize laureate, economist Joseph Stiglitz in the Nov.1st 2008 Vanity Fair, “Reversal of Fortune.”
It is unfortunate that Prof. Stiglitz appears nowhere in the president-elect’s roster of economic advisors, since he is among the few truly thoughtful and wise people in his profession. Trusting the former thieves to turn in their loot can only lead to further disaster.

Congratulations! I think that you will do an excellent job as the President of the US, but i want to do a suggestion: I think that you shouldn´t support the abortion because it is a sin, it is a murder of a human being in gestation in the abdomen of his mother. From the moment in which the sperm and the ovum join, the human being is created, that´s why the abortion is a crime, if the people do not want to have children, they must use preservatives, or other contraceptive methods, but it is necessary to avoid the abortion. Good luck and God bless you

Hello Mr. President,

I will urge Mr. President to consider the African continent for peaceful diplomacy with a view to showing world leaders the right way of doing things “DEMOCRATICALLY” without political gimmicks or violence.
Your election is a confirmation that “Yes We Can” even in the developing countries.
My congratulation is also extended to your courageous wife Mitchell as well as your two lovely daughters for standing as well withstanding the rough ride of campaigns which ends in Victory.

Senetor Obama,
Your Victory at the American polls lives the whole world in a state uncontrollable happiness which now shows a thriving success in the pursuit of everlasting end to racism, ethnical disagreement and political quagmire existing between the two source of the earth intellectual balance.
In the light of the above, this is only a step to an everlasting peace which you and you alone can give to the world, right now every Dick and Harry is supporting you including your enemies, ready to have you to lead them to a place of solace and quietude, I’m a strong supporter of you and I would like you not to disappoint me.
Try to bridge the gap between the poor, the wretched, down trodden and the rich. I know you feel our pains, you see our tears, you hear our heartbeat,
I may not be opportuned to tell you all today because I ran short of money to continue, but I know that one day, I will be able to shake your hands tell you I love you, allowing you to see the fulfilled smile on my face for my brother
If I had my way I would have invited you for a launch in my poor home where we could sit on the floor and eat together in happiness as we did in the good old days, before we were seperated by the claws of destiny. I will always pray for you on my bamboo bed with my native lamp filtering in to the room. I know we will see one day, just not very soon. I will work for it and I shall see you there, though it may not be in this live time, but in heaven cause Iam not rich enough to come and share your moments with you
Finally be good, lead well and never change, trust no one but you instinct, never ignore anyone, reach out for all I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU
Yours faithfully,
Martins

PRAYER FOR BARAK OBAMA, THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF THE USA
God of all creation, you lifted from obscurity Mary and made her the mother of the saviour of man-kind, Joseph from slavery to become a governor in Egypt and Daniel a president in Medes and Persia because of their excellent spirit and faith in you. Gracious God, you crowned Obama our 44th President, make him excellent in leadership, supervision, management, administration, caring, listening, speaking and action.
Almighty father you created him for this mission, to lead the free world this time for the world to be a better place for all regardless. You have anointed and challenged him to proclaim the good news to the whole world; set at liberty the poor, oppressed and suppressed, cause mutual respect, fairness, cooperation, understanding, sustainable security, peace, economic blessedness and technological advancement through the provision and effective use of Godly ministers, advisers, consultants and prayer warriors, the recognition and appreciation of diversity, the practice of true democracy and the pursuit of excellence in problem solving and innovation. Lord, give him good health, abundant life, happy home, courage, tenacity, perseverance, patience, strength, generousity and gentility. Bless him with wisdom like Solomon, counsel, understanding and fortitude to rely on you for decisions, piety to find his truest joy in you, fear for your intense reverence for you and your grace to minister diligently, prudently and courageously with honour, integrity and dignity.
Lord, take away everything that worked or contend against him, bless and widen his scope to serve effectively and miraculously. Surround him and answer him always every time and place; shield and guide him against all evils, hidden dangers, diseases, enemies and bad people.
Almighty God, make Obama the best and a role-model for Presidents and leaders. Make his administration yours for desired changes, relief and solutions for a happier, better-secured and prosperous people, nation and world in praise of your Holy Name, Amen.
God bless Obama the president of the USA and his family,God bless the people of the USA, God bless the USA and the world-Amen.

To: Senator Barak Obama
President-Elect of USA
Washington DC-USA
My President-Elect Sir,
CONGRATULATIONS AND MY SINCERE WISHES FOR YOUR SUCCESS
Before ever you declared, it was disclosed to me in prayers that the 2008 USA election will produce a big surprise, with somebody least expected to eye the presidency talk of winning. He will come from a simple noble path and upbringing to take the world by storm with his intelligence, charisma and cheerful-disposition that appeal to all for acceptance and the desired changes hoped for by both the people of USA and the world at large. Thank the Lord, your choice of a running mate is very right.
Since then till now, my contribution had been and will continue to be prayers for you, our beloved country USA and the success of your presidency. The expectations are high and you are expected to make a genuine difference steadily but gradually with prayers for God’s guidance; directives, direction and focus. You are a success already, so be a good instrument of the Lord to USA, we, the people of USA and the world that stood up for you, accepted you even before the election and hoped for good through you as a person and your administration.
Here is my little but mighty gift for you to start the journey. I composed this prayer for you and future USA presidents. I will be grateful to you and God Almighty, if this prayer is said by churches and people throughout the world on your behalf, your success and that of those coming after you.
Continue being blessed in the Lord Almighty.
Praying fervently for your success.
Thank you and thanks to God Almighty.

The emergency of OBAMA as U.S. President is a great lesson to the world in general especially the evolving democratic nations of africa;it teaches us that democracy is the popular will of the people and not the will of a dictator or some so called powerfull clique. My advice to OBAMA is that he should see himself as the President of the world and not that of U.S. alone because of where he is coming from; he should makesure he does not go into unneccessary war with any nation so there will be peace world over, so we can proove to the world that good things can come out of africa.Above all he should please look back and help his fellow africans as their is no how he can dissociate himself from africa,he has his root here.

As Mr. Obama is my President now, I obviously want him to be successful. However, I am troubled after reading various speeches, and comments given by him where he has neglected to thank or address issues that concern the very US citizens that have given their very lives so that he has been able to be elected Americas commander in chief. He might want to address the concerns of our military personel & their families. NEVER forget those who gave their lives for ALL of the freedoms we use daily!

I had an Uncle who tried to tell me about the South when I entered the Air Force. I was directly faced with segration upon my arrival. Even today, with what was said about the typical negro, it stayed with me. But with the realization of a black man becoming President of the USA, I am sorry I didn’t stand up for myself when faced with sterotype remarks during my younger years. Now I will walk down hallways with a spirit I’ve never felt before. Knowing for sure, I am somebody. I think I will write a book.

Dear President Obama,
With the beginning of 2009 and you are going to start your presidency very soon. I would like to ask you, as a person who is desperate in this world and looks up to you as the president of the most powerful country in the world and hoping that you will prove to be the one who is going to be fair, please make Israel stop killing palestinians.. please… although it is our land and they have occupied it but let them have it, but also let them let our children live in peace and not in terror and fear.. and the more the kill palestinians, the more palestinians will feel the urge to take revenge and this will give terrorists the right kind of angry desperate people who have lost everything to wage a revenge attack on Israel and the cycle goes round and round…but enough is enough, and we the palestinians, need peace, we need to go to bed every night and not wonder if we will wake up the next morning or be buried under the rubel form an Israeli attack..Please Mr. President, Please help us….

For all of the world citizens that have worked for this new era, never look back! The Bush regime is recognized for its legacy of global instability and perspective of narrow-mindedness. It’s current agenda of inequity and violence against civilian populations for the exclusive entity of individual’s greed, and concentrated wealth from the exploitation of our global but limited resources demands the diplomacy of first an olive branch in the Gaza genocide; a panda bear and though your plate is more than full with the Bush legacy of global instability you have our support and prayers.

You just don’t know how beautiful this is. To have a new Democratic President w/ a polite attitude, at last. I’ve waited 8 years for this. That is why the majority of America went for you. Cause everybody wants Change., of all Creeds, and Colors. And don’t worry about the 1.5%% who don’t like it. Cause the Police has got a birds view. People can;t see them but they can see you. And they’ll hide their tails like a needle in a haystack. You understand what I’m saying? Where their ma ma and daddy will never see their tails again in life, thats for sure.Thats why you don’t hear about Assasinations no more.Thugs ain’t trying to go like that with the Police..Know what I’m saying? The Police will Sweep their tails like a broom. Especially in DC. They the main ones who started that Operation Clean Sweep, against menace to society.Know what i’m saying? And they will abandon their tail. And they ain’t got no shame in doing it either. And dats no bushit. The Police don’t play that messing w/ their Presidents like that. Thats why Assasinations are more under control now.
I know you’ve got a lot of cleaning up to do. But you’ll do fine w/ the Economic Stimulus Pkg. (Which is an all in one program) that will take care of all of your periodic expectations.
Cause this Country is like a thirsty man in the dessert. Just waiting for that surprise helicopter to arrive. And thats you baby.
Keep up the good work Barrack Obama. And remember, more Whites and Hispanics voted for you than the Blacks. The Whites out voted the Blacks by about 10% more. But don’t about the indigent Whites who don’t like it woryy you. Cause they ain’t got no money to do nothing to nobody anyway. But cry sheep. And harrass people with letters and emails. Anybody can do that.
Keep up the good work Barrack Obama.

Dear Mr. President, congratulations on winning the exalted seat of the USA presidency. You have given hope and courage to many to strive for what they belive in. Personally, I am motivated to work hard towards my goals in every aspect of my life-family, work and Nation, knowing that with God on my side I can bring positive change to my environment. As a Nigerian, I see a lot that could be better in our Nation and I am willing to be part of that change.
God bless you and give you wisdom and directions in steering the affairs of your Country.

Dear President Barack Obama: I am an American Citizen and never in my 66 yrs on this earth have I ever had a predudice thought for anyone! I am Caucasian but I have two grandchildren who are Black,
American Indian and Italian on their father’s side (my stepson) and hispanic and Korean on their mother’s side (my daughter-in-law). Since they have been old enough to understand, I have been telling them that because they come from several different nationalities, that they are very very special and will make a difference in the world we live in. I love them with all of my heart. That said; I am thrilled to have you and your wonderful family in the White House and I truly believe that you are going to make a difference in all our lives. I do not envy you the tasks before you, but I know you are going to do everything you can to make our country a better place to live; and I know you won’t stop there; you will strive to make things better around the world. There have only been two other Presidents before you that I could listen to and understand what they were saying; that being John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton; and now you.
I do hope you get a chance to read all of the comments. God bless you and yours. May he guide you and keep you safe.
Most sincerely,
Barbara

Congratulations President Obama, your family, and the American people!
I’m a Canadian and I just submitted a letter to the Editor, Toronto Star, today; not sure if it would be published.
Obama’s HOPE and the torch of CHANGE
Re: HOPE, headline: The Star, January 17, 2009
More power to the Star for spreading the good news about hope and change when the whole world is facing the greatest challenge of tough times. What a fitting sub-heading! “Barack Obama has ignited the dreams of many, especially the young. As Inauguration Day nears, a group of Toronto youth talk about why they’re on their way to Washington for a moment of history.”
Many people, I feel from the old to the young, from the heavens to the grassroots, from around the world, myself included, once again are seeing some distinct sparks of hope. That torch of change must be lighted and come Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at exactly one minute before noon, the 44th President of the greatest democracy in the world, Barack Obama will be sworn-in.
I was young before when I idolized an American president for the first time. He was John F. Kennedy and he was young but with bright visions of the future. Now, as a “young-at-heart”, I’m excited, once again, and I whisper, “Thanks God, I’m alive to witness this momentous and historic event. It certainly re-ignited my boyhood vision of “One dream, One world.
To the hardened cynic and the audaciously hopeful, I can only say this. I agree with Obama’s message: “Yes, We Can!”

First and foremost, Congratulation to Mr Obama on this historic moment in redefining history. You are a Hero.
Of course your task is not a easy but I wish you all the best. There have been a misconception about the Bush administration. I believe Bush try his best. All what he ever do was to provide a safe haven for American- the free country. People has misjudge and misunderstood him.
My requirement of you is to make the America a safe haven. No matter what, never compromise that.
Wish you all the best. May God Help you and give you the grace in delivering your job very well. Once again, well done

Congratulation on reaching a milestone in this generation. I never thought my eyes would behold this day.
I would like to see a United States of America that can provide for its naturalized citizens in such a way that someone with an MBA will not be stuck working like someone with a High School Diploma and getting paid as such for several years and feeling hopeless in a land that dreams (such as your) do come true.
A United States that will allow for growth and career advancement that is dependent on the content of ones inate ability and not ones national origin or color.

No cause for celebration. The battle will not be easy. The president should get down at work; developing the strategies on how to fix the American and indeed the world economy. Mr President should justify the hope, trust and faith the American people had by elected him the First Black President in the U.S history. The journey will not be easy, but, I have never doubt President Obama’s wisdom, insight, intelligent and ideas to redemeed the American economy and make her, once again the center of World attraction. American should not lost her World leadership. There are emerging economies working hard to take over the battle of leadership from the United States. That’s why Mr. ‘President must work tirelessly to enhance the American greatness.
Leadership is the ability to take responsibilities. Mr President must not wavery in taking the decision, challenges and responsibiilties that will ensure the actualization of the American dream.
America is waiting. The world is waiting. Mr President must not fail. The President must work tireless to make things happen, bring joy to the face of every American and make the World a safety and better place to live.

the election of mr obama as the u.s president establishes for all time the equity jutice and preeminence of the american democratic system and process. it also underscores the success of the bill of rights in as much as it marks an end to the need or relevance of affirmative action. the prsident however must know that beyond the fate of the u. s. he is the torch bearer for the diginity and nobility of not only the african americans but africans every where. how he fares in office will define for a long time how africans particularly of black extraction will be judged. i wish him every strength and GODS enduring grace and guidiance. he is a credit to my perception of both the american spirit an the proverbial american dream. ‘STRIDE WITH FAITH AND MAY YOUR CONVICTIONS GIVE YOU STRENGTH MR PRESIDENT. This morning on a news show a person being interviewed said the Obama kids should decline an invitation to a behind-the-scenes Harry Potter set, that their parents want them to continue as normal and being invited by celebrities is not normal. She also implied that advice from the Bush girls was not good advice.
I say the Obama kids should experience, with parent approval of course, what any 1st kid would. They are no longer “normal” kids. What Mrs. Obama means by “normal” is that she doesn’t want them growing up oblivious to the world as so many silver-spoon fed kids do.

Dear President Obama;
Like MANY Canadians, our Anglican/Episcopalian Religious Community watched your Inauguration with joy and celebration. I was fortunate to be able to watch pre-election TV from about middle of August until your election as I was in our Infirmary healing two new knees! And yes, I stayed up election night to see you announced as the president and cried with joy.
We have a Sister in our community who is an Afro-American from Maryland- Sr. Constance Maurphy- still an American citizen who celebrated her 105th birthday Feb. 2- she watched your Inauguration with pride and joy.
I know many of us pray daily for your safety and the safety of your beautiful wife Michelle and your two little girls.
We look forward to your coming to Canada for a real visit some time after your business trip to Ottawa!
With prayers and thanksgiving for your election and your message of “Yes, we can!”
