August 1993

                                 SPECIAL NOTE

DSS61 is still red as of 8/01/93. Present predicted date of return of service
is now day 93.238.00:00 (August 26th). There will continue to be periods of
256 bps record rate during the extended gaps caused by the loss of DSS61.
Even with the use of DSS68 (Weilheim) following testing, it will still not be
possible to perform all recording between passes at the nominal 512 bps.
Scheduled periods of 256 bps record rate will be notified via this Bulletin
Board.

1st Aug Earth pointing manoeuvre.

213.00:31-00:52 21m 256 bps data lost due to spacecraft going 2-way during

SCET

221.05:08-05:24 16m realtime data lost due to TPA problem at DSS42 following
SCET spacecraft going 2-way.

DSS68 (Weilheim) scheduled to receive data at 1024 bps.

221.07:00:24 DNEL (Disconnect Non Essential Loads) occurred on board the
SCET spacecraft. This coincided with the beginning of the planned
routine Earth pointing manoeuvre. An estimated 30% of the
planned pulses took place before onboard reconfiguration
took place and halted the manoeuvre. The last frame of
telemetry was received at 07:01:28 SCET. Telemetry was
switched on again at 221:10:22 SCET. All experiment teams
should examine their data for any unusual behaviour in the
moments leading up to the DNEL.

The Recovery from DNEL procedure has been implemented and is
proceeding well. Individual experiment teams have been
contacted to determine the desired switch on configuration.

221.07:01-10:22 3h11m realtime data lost due to DNEL. Additional loss of
SCET recorded data as DNEL occurred during playback periods.

221.15:16 - Data at 256 bps for recording, due to lack of available
222.07:37 SCET playback periods due to DSS61 loss.
