SOHO EOF WEEKLY PLANNING MEETING February 29, 1996 Eliane Larduinat chairs. Notes by Eliane Larduinat and Luis Sanchez. _________________________________________________________________________ Agenda 1) Updates on tests and SVM activities scheduled for March 1996 2) Status of activities performed during week of February 26 to March 04. 3) DSN schedule for week of March 04 to March 11. 4) Planned science activities for week of March 04 to March 11. 5) Detailed schedule of activities for week of March 04 to March 11. 6) AOB ________________________________________________________________________ TESTS AND SVM ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR MARCH 1996 1) J3. Off-pointing test. o Was delayed until end of March to allow VIRGO/LOI to participate. o Rehearsal scheduled for 1st week in March o JOP-039 (polar plumes) done during the rehearsal. o MDI high rate data and consequently DSN contact is needed (approximately 16hrs). o Detailed script to be worked out with MMS and FOT. 2) Intercalibration test o Intercal-1 on March 5 o Intercal-9 on March 6. 3) IIDE Functions Test - o Tentative schedule March 23-24 o All Master/Receiver configurations should be exercised. 4) J1. S/C Roll Test. (unchanged) o Combined activities planned for March 19 to March 21 to include at a maximum: momentum management, J1 roll test, momentum management(s), Trim burn, and possibly an additional momentum management. o In order to minimize instruments door closing and wheel off-loading operations, J1 should be performed before the trim burn. o The trim burn for HOI may not be performed at that time . The length of the burn is still TBD. 5) COBS/ACU Software patch. (unchanged) o Planned for March 11 to March 15 o 8 hours of contact time for SVM_Reserved on March 11 and 12. o 2X4 hours of contact time for SVM_Reserved on March 13 and 14 o Roll part of the GOLF-S/C oscillation test will be done on March 15. It will last 16 hrs, needing 2 hrs at beginning and 2 hrs at end for commanding. 6) S7. Medium Term Pointing Test. (unchanged) o Planned for March 18. o 2 - 3 hours o No thermal changes. No "disturbing" mouvements 7) Ongoing - S8. Pointing Stability Test. (unchanged) MDI is working with MMS to periodically provide jitter information based on various wheel speeds. Only involves MDI and should have little impact on science operations. Planned for about 1/2 hr every 3 days. TEST PERFORMED THIS WEEK SSD6 - Telemetry submodes 1 to 4 test: Primarily exercise submodes 2, 3 and 4; Involves EIT, SUMER and CDS. Waiting for reports from the PI teams regarding the outcome of the test. SSS2/SSD11 - Exercise Tape Recorder. Planned for Saturday March 02. This test approximately requires 10.5 hours: 3 hours to wind and rewind the tape, 5.5 hours to record the full length of the tape an 2 hours to dump the tape. During this time MDI high rate data will not be available. No other impact foreseen on science operations. NRT would be available during the time periods when FOT does not need to command the tape recorder. A hydraulic problem at DS-16 will reduce the NRT during the weekend. If NRT is available (the DS-16 problem is solved on Saturday afternoon) MDI will go to high rate after the test. ________________________________________________________________________ MARCH SCHEDULE OVERVIEW (** Tentative schedule) M Feb 26 SSD6 - Telemetry submode test T Feb 27 W Feb 28 T Feb 29 F Mar 01 S Mar 02 SSS2/SSD11 - Tape recorder test S Mar 03 M Mar 04 T Mar 05 Intercal 1 W Mar 06 Intercal 9 T Mar 07 Rehearsal - J3 Off-pointing test + JOP039 (Polar Plumes) F Mar 08 S Mar 09 S Mar 10 M Mar 11 COBS s/w patch T Mar 12 COBS s/w patch W Mar 13 COBS s/w patch T Mar 14 COBS s/w patch F Mar 15 COBS s/w patch + GOLF roll oscillation test S Mar 16 S Mar 17 S7 - Medium term stability test M Mar 18 Momentum management, J1 - Preparation T Mar 19 J1 - S/C roll test W Mar 20 Momentum management, Trim burn if needed T Mar 21 Trim recovery F Mar 22 S Mar 23 *** IIDE test S Mar 24 M Mar 25 T Mar 26 VIRGO LOI cover W Mar 27 VIRGO LOI cover T Mar 28 *** J3 - Off-pointing Part 1 (East-West) F Mar 29 *** J3 - Off-pointing Part 2 (North-South) S Mar 30 S Mar 31 PLANNED END OF COMMISSIONING NOTES: - EIT would like to extend the J3 test to 20 arcmin and to stay there for about and hour (including contingency) in order to downlink an image. There is a potential problem with LOI, if this is done. Further discussion is needed. SUMER and LASCO will need to close their doors. - In not yet determined whether or not there will be a trim burn on March 20. A momentum management will be needed before and after J1. The plan is to do the trim burn right after the second momentum management if needed. The script of the test will be available by the end of next week. - Instrument activities will be allowed only after the COBS patching. MEETINGS EOF Daily Meeting Every day 10am in EOF EOF Weekly Meeting Every Thursday 2pm in EOF Science Club meeting Every Wednesday 2pm in the EAF SPWG March 15 LONG TERM DSN SCHEDULE 1) April 24, 25 and 26: Continuous contact (MDI). An additional 3 days of continuous contact may be obtained in the last week of March or first week of April. 2) Two months continuous contact: May 23 to July 18. This will not provide 24 hours of commanding. (During some contacts, we will not have commanding capabilities). 3) March 31 is the start of the 34-meter antenna support. At this point we hope to get more stable schedule predictions (i.e., the 1-2 week predictions will be useable for planning purpose) 4) The 80 continuus hours for MDI are going to be difficult to get. We may have some time at the beginning of April. 5) The FOT is already reserving time for the DSN 34 meter antennas already for December. Requests for time should be sent to the FOT as in advance as possible. ________________________________________________________________________ DSN Schedule for week of March 04 to March 11. The CDS input was processed manually through the planning tool. It was taking too much time and we decided to get input files (.IAP) from each team and display the merged results during a daily meeting as soon as possible. CDS: Monday: GIS spectral atlas - MCP test Tuesday: Intercalibration 1 Wednesday: NIS spectral atlas - MCP test Thursday: JOP 39: Polar plume flow Friday: Synoptic Scan Saturday: GIS spectral atlas - MCP test Sunday: Multiply Study test EIT and LASCO submitted IAP files. ________________________________________________________________________ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- AOB Delayed commands. Delayed commands should be used only for routine operations. Any other operations should be implemented from the EOF (NRT or TSTOL). o Submit files to ECS by 17:00 UT for uplink during the next operational day starting at 00:00 UT. o Submit files to ECS by 17:00 UT on Friday for uplink during the week-end (prefered). o Send an E-mail to soc@soc.nascom.nasa.gov at the same time you submit the file. o Verify proper reception of the validation report. Report must be RECEIVED and must indicate that the commands were VALID. It is recommended that more than one destination address for the validation report may be specified. If the validation report is not received within 1/2 hour, contact the SOC. o Specify an uplink window that is wide enough to cover two passes whenever possible and should be at least 12 hours in length. Also, this allows FOT to uplink these files at night or during the short contacts , thus minimizing the interruptions of NRT. o If there are special instructions to the FOT, send a fax with a detailed script that can be used as an OCD. This applies to the case where several files are sent at the same time, and the order of uplink must be specified. This is definitely necessary if TSTOL procedures need to be interleaved with the file uplinks. Comment lines should be used to that effect but are not sufficient. E-mail input from CDS, EIT and SUMER needed as soon as possible for the Submode test. This input must specify: - Proper reception of the packets specific to each submode. - Quality of these data (at a minimum continuity in sequence numbers, proper length, proper formatting and readibility)
