ELF Toni Hull Gave Workshops on English Language Teaching |
English Language Fellow Toni Hull gives a workshop on language learning for teachers at Danang University |
English Language Fellow (ELF) Toni Hull, currently teaching at Hue College of Foreign Languages, conducted two separate workshops at Danang University Information Resource Center (IRC) and Duy Tan University (DTU) for 55 lecturers of English of Danang College of Foreign Languages and DTU. These interactive workshops were designed to give participants an opportunity to practice designing Speaking and Listening tasks for assessment and testing purposes. ELF Hull addressed attitudes about testing and assessment. This was followed by a review of key terminology and concepts in the area of assessment and testing. The majority of the workshop was spent practicing designing tasks. ELF Hull then guided the participants to do activities in pairs. In both groups, one of the most interesting discussions centered around scoring criteria for Speaking assessment and to what degree “native-speakerness” should be desired. The workshop provided participants a deeper understanding of assessment and testing and enabled them to better evaluate their students’ performance.
