ARD ArcGIS 9.x
NOAA ARD is developing GIS Tools for ArcGIS 9.x to aid in analysis and mapping. Our Division (and Office) continues to use some of the broad range of ArcView 3.x tools developed by us and others; however we are transitioning to ArcGIS 9.x and have developed tools that we have found useful or that are not available.
The ARD GIS Toolbar contains a collection of GIS tools developed by NOAA ARD for use in spatial analysis and mapping in ArcGIS 9.x. This toolbar and the commands are written in VB6 and distributed as a dll (dynamic link library) that can easily be added to an ArcMap 9.x project.

There are currently four tools created by ARD available in the ArcGIS 9.x ARD GIS Toolbar:
- Query Manager Import Tool - The Query Manager Import Tool (ArcGIS 9.1) is designed to simplify importing Query Manager sediment, tissue and toxicity data into a GIS.
- Apply Query Manager Legend - This tool applies the Query Manager/Marplot legend to sediment, tissue or toxicity shapefiles created from saved Query Manager queries. This may be useful for query shapefiles that do not have saved symbology.
- List Layer Sources Tool - This tool writes out information on the layers in an ArcMap project (*.mxd) to an Excel spreadsheet. The dataset path, name, coordinate system, type of dataset and Data Frame are written to an excel spreadsheet.
- Map Extent Tool - The purpose of the Map Extent Tool is help facilitate map production or printing in ArcMap for a series of maps. The Map Extent Tool creates a polygon shapefile and captures an extent polygon, the data frame rotation, the data frame scale, and a map name.
- Create Layer Files Tool - The Create Layer Files Tool creates and saves ArcGIS layer files (.lyr files) for layers using the source data name and folder location.
