ENGLISH TODAY (Inglés Hoy) is a bilingual English
as a Second Language (ESL) course for beginning and
intermediate Spanish-speaking students.
The course consists of books and audiotapes for
children and adults. The texts are arranged in an
order of difficulty, such that the student may
progress relatively quickly and easily. In addition,
there are translations and explanations in Spanish to
facilitate learning.
The texts include:
1. 2500 word bilingual dictionary of the most common
words - phonetically spelled to assist in
pronunciation.
2. Vocabulario Básico - Basic Vocabulary - 40 pages
bilingual, with words in English also spelled
approximately the way in which they are pronounced.
Contents include - Greetings and salutations, the
alphabet, numbers, colors, parts of the body, the
classroom, the house, food, directions, the family,
question words, etc.

3. English Pronunciation - La Pronunciación del Inglés
- 20 pages
A bilingual workbook book concentrating on the
pronunciation of sounds usually difficult for the
Spanish speakers, such as:
Short I and short U, soft G and J, S followed by a
consonant, Th, V versus B, etc. 1 cassette.
3. English Grammar Workbook - 80 pages
La Gramática Ingles, Libro de Trabajo
A “graded” grammar workbook, with explanations in
Spanish.
2 texts - 2 cassettes.
4. The History of the United States. 40 pages
One page essays with bilingual vocabulary, including
the "100 questions" - cassette also.
5. Ricardo and His Family - Ricardo Y Su Familia - 20
pages
A graded reader with one-page lessons telling the
story of ...Ricardo and his family.
Text:
6. Cognates, 20 pages - 15 rules, over 100 verbs, with
humorous essays. Text and cassette.
Books for children
1. Canta, Colorea y Aprende Inglés -
Sing, Color and Learn English
A coloring book of 12 rhymes and songs, bilingual.
Excellent for beginning pronunciation exercises. text
and cassette.
