Abstract	The tropospheric oxidation cycle of the hydroxyl radicals HOx, HO, HO2 contributing to the chemical activity of the troposphere is studied. Of special importance are the variations of CH4-concentrations and its oxidation products. Runge-Kutta algorithms are used to study 25 carbohydrates reacting in 60 chemical reactions. Results in the absense and the presence of CH4 are given.
