Updated: Aug. 12, 2004 VJ General: -------- Q: Is the DZero detector having any problems similar to the CDF COT difficulties? A: All detectors are operating efficiently with good coverage. The SMT is responding as expected to radiation exposure. There has been an increase in leakage currents, but no loss of efficiency is expected for some time. About 1% of the CFT channels were lost last year due to probable contamination, this is under study, there was no loss of efficiency. Q: How has DZero responded to the cancellation of the silicon upgrades? A: We will be installing a new inner SMT layer in FY05 to maintain b-tagging efficiency and tracking efficiency. Together with additional trigger upgrades this will ensure an active physics program through the end of the decade. Analyses related: ----------------- Q: How much data have you used? A: We now have recorded over 440pb-1 (up to July '04). The results we are showing mostly come from 250pb-1 that was recorded in 2003 and reprocessed last fall (reprocessing gives much improved tracking efficiency). Some analyses have used about 350pb-1. Q. When will we have a result on delta_gamma/gamma for the Bs system? A. We are working on this analysis and should have a result soon Q. when will we have Bs mixing result? A. Optimistically, we could have first _limits_ by this fall (although not competitive). By then we should be have enough data and a mature enough analysis to publish with what limits we have. From current predictions, if "nature is kind", x_s is hovering at current limits, we collect enough data with a bandwidth upgrade, we may have a chance for observation. Q. why are our yields much higher than CDF in certain final states? A. In channels where at least one of the b's undergoes semileptonic decay resulting in a reconstructed charm meson and a muon, we have good yields due to our better coverage in eta (|eta| < 2) for both tracking and muon identification. For one typical final state (B->D0/mu/X) we find that going out to |eta| < 2 gives us roughly three times the acceptance that a limit of |eta| < 1 would allow.
