Fugitive Apprehended After Arriving on Victoria Clipper Ferry

contacts for this news releaseSeattle, Wash. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Seattle port of entry arrested a 61-year-old Hutchins, Texas man wanted for aggravated sexual assault on a child when he arrived at Pier 69 in Seattle aboard the Victoria Clipper ferry on July 12.Clyde Brodnax was taken into custody as he attempted to clear entry into the United States after a name check resulted in the discovery of a felony warrant in the National Criminal Information Center database. The Dallas County sheriff’s office was contacted and verified the warrant which they had just issued on July 9. CBP officers turned Brodnax over to the Port of Seattle Police Department.“It doesn’t matter how you arrive into the United States, every person, every vehicle, every piece of cargo, everything that enters the United States from outside our country has to pass through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. As our mission statement proudly proclaims, ‘We are the guardians of our Nation’s borders. We are America’s Frontline.’ Removing predatory criminals from our society is part of the job our officers perform on a daily basis,” said Port Director Roland Suliveras.NCIC is a centralized automated data base designed to share information among law enforcement agencies including outstanding warrants for a wide range of offenses. CBP officers on the U.S./Canadian border have made previous arrests of individuals wanted for homicide, escape, money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual child abuse, fraud, larceny and military desertion.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
