WHAT'S THE SAME IN A MIRROR
WORLD? |
In the other activity students try to figure out which of two universes has mirror symmetry. Two boxes represent the universes which are composed of a number of left- and right-handed screws. One universe has an equal number of left- and right-handed screws; the other does not. The text compares this situation with the fact that while physicists expect to find the same number of left- and right-handed neutrinos in the universe, they have found only left-handed neutrinos. Also, similar to Where's Waldo?, there is a graphic of a large number of identical cartoon characters with the exception that one has her left hand raised and all the others the right hand. Students try to find the left-handed girl. |
