(a) U.S. District Court ruled a BMWE strike against CSX on
8/17/1995 to be a "minor dispute" & therefore enjoined the
strike.
(b) In 1976, the agency’s Fiscal year changed from ending
June 30 to ending September 30; therefore a supplemental Annual Report was

(d) On the threat of a nationwide railroad strike during
WW2, the President put the rail carriers under Federal control on December 28,
1943. They were returned to private
control on January 18, 1944.
(e) This strike ended when the Federal Government took over operational control of the railroad. Another strike involving the Railway Express Agency arose out of a jurisdictional dispute between two unions.
(f) This strike was not settled by the end of the NMB fiscal year; the carrier implemented work rules.
(g)
(h) This strike was not settled by the end of the NMB fiscal year. The carrier was sold to Guilford Transportation in 1981.
