HKL/HKL-2000 - program suite for oscillation data processing
px at nsls

The HKL/HKL-2000 suite of programs is designed to analyze monochromatic X-ray diffraction oscillation data. The programs have been written by Dr. Zbyszek Otwinowski (Southwestern Medical Center, University of Texas) and Dr. Wladek Minor (University of Virginia). The HKL/HKL-2000 suite consists of the following programs:

The HKL package development is supported by the NIH grant GM-53163 to the laboratories of Zbyszek Otwinowski (Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas) and Wladek Minor (University of Virginia). The HKL program package available at the X12B, X12C, X25, X8C, and X26C (non-commercial) beam lines at NSLS is provided on the basis of scientific collaboration free of any charges by the program authors. The synchrotron versions are time stamped and are usually upgraded every 3 months.

The use of the package should be referenced in publication as follows:

Documentation

Currently, Edition 5 (September, 1998) of the HKL Manual is available at the beamline.

Also available are: the on-line version (pdf format) of the manual and searchable lists of  Denzo and Scalepack keywords.

Availability

Version 1.97.2 and HKL-2000 installed at the X12B, X12C, X25, and X26C beamlines is for processing of the data collected on Quantum-4, Quantum-315, Brandeis, and Brandeis-4 CCD detector systems.

Experimenters from academic and non-commercial institutions,  may use the program for data evaluation and processing, while collecting data at the beamline. Users, holding a non-profit HKL license, can obtain from HKL Research, Inc. the program upgrade to version 1.97.2 to process data collected at NSLS. Users, who do not have a permanent HKL license, can obtain free of charge, from HKL Research, Inc., a temporary license to re-/process data collected at NSLS.

Experimenters from the commercial and for-profit institutions must have an appropriate commercial HKL license to use the program for data evaluation and processing, while collecting data at the beamline, or processing synchrotron data at home. The license can be obtained from HKL Research, Inc.
