US Consul launches call-in radio show
People with burning questions about U.S. passports, visas, or what they should do to stay off the country's stop list can now get answers on live radio.
U.S. Consul Margaret Pride is hosting a live call-in show 'Ask the Consulate', which will air on the third Saturday of every month beginning this Saturday, on jazz radio, KJAZ, 98.1 FM.
The U.S. Consulate says it will give listeners the opportunity to learn more about "passports, visas and all that jazz."
It says the show is part of the Consulate's community outreach efforts.
U.S. Consulate and Customs officers already visit schools to warn students about the pitfalls of having a criminal record - it means they won't be allowed to visit the U.S.
"KJAZ has offered a valuable public service by hosting this programme. We're very excited about the opportunity - with their help - to reach out to the community," said U.S. Consul General Gregory Slayton in a press release.
The release also said: "'Ask the Consulate' will be an enhancement of existing Consulate services.
"Not only will the show be live, it will also provide listeners with the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues. It will provide information on existing and new regulations and serve as an adjunct to post's website, http://hamilton.usconsulate.gov."
KJAZ's call-in telephone number is 400-5299.
