Border Patrol Agents Seize Marijuana South of San Juan, Texas

contacts for this news releaseWeslaco, Texas — Border Patrol agents assigned to the Weslaco, Texas station seized 805.9 pounds of marijuana at about 6 a.m. yesterday morning. The narcotics had an estimated street value of $644,720.00.While patrolling the Rio Grande River area south of San Juan, agents observed several subjects carrying large sacks. When the agents identified themselves, the subjects dropped their cargo and fled back toward Mexico. Recovered were 22 burlap sacks containing 65 bricks of a substance that tested positive for marijuana. The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.No arrests were made in this incident.
