Warden Message:  To all American citizens in Sierra Leone

March 3, 2005

American Embassy
Freetown, Sierra Leone

This Warden Message is being sent to inform you that the U.S. Embassy in Freetown cautions Americans against travel to East Freetown, including the terminal for the ferry to Lungi and the airport.  In light of present security concerns, the potential for political disturbance remains high.  Also, crime is high in that part of the city.

The Embassy has resumed using Paramount Helicopter Services for transit to Lungi airport.  Paramount is currently under contract with UK-led IMATT and the UN uses it when its own helicopters are unavailable.

The Embassy is located on the corner of Siaka Stevens and Walpole Streets and our telephone numbers for American citizens emergencies are 226-481 and, after hours, 227-998.

PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE WITH OTHER AMERICANS.
