First Advanced Leadership Class Graduates

Acknowledging the possibility that 60 percent of its senior executives may chose to retire in the next five years, GSA initiated the Advanced Leadership Development Program (ALDP) in 2002. The first ALDP class graduated June 10, 2004. These 26 women and 29 men may be among GSA’s future senior executives. The industrious individuals came from all of GSA’s Regions and its Central Office and a cross-section of Services and offices.

Classmates spent 18 months building their skills and competencies through classroom training in GSA's core leadership competencies for executives, 24 hours of executive coaching, and a two-month developmental assignment. The graduates of this class are optimistic, motivated, and proactive with a vision of GSA’s future. They have honed their abilities to lead by example and build coalitions.

The ALDP has its roots in a program developed by GSA’s Public Buildings Service. The success of the program led to this first agency-wide class. The second GSA-wide class has just begun.
