Basketmaking: Liddia Pasata
A basketmaker for over 25 years, Liddia Pasata has
been teaching basket-weaving, pottery, beadwork, and
moccasin-making to members of the Jicarilla Apache tribe since the
early 1970's. She is a full-time cultural resource advisor for the
tribe through the Jicarilla Department of Education at the Cultural
Resource Center in Dulce, which she founded in 1980. Her teaching
of traditional crafts includes exposure to cultural values.
