Dry and getting drier -- Drought conditions persist in New York State

New York State and most of the Northeast has had below normal precipitation over the last several months which is causing low streamflows and ground-water levels throughout much of New York. The New York Disaster Preparedness Commission (DPC) declared a drought warning for seven counties in the Susquehanna River Basin on June 23rd. In addition, the DPC issued a drought watch for 18 counties in the upper Hudson and Mohawk River basins. (See the DPC News Release). For more information on current streamflow and groundwater conditions see the U.S. Geological Survey Near-Real-Time Surface-Water Data, Current Conditions Map, and End-of-Month Reports.
