fire weather planning forecast for eastern kentucky
national weather service jackson ky
332 pm est mon feb 16 2009

... near critical fire weather condition with min rh as low as
25 percent on tuesday...

. discussion...
high pressure and with drier air is in place across east kentucky.
this will bring critical rh values and near critical wind speeds to
the area. the fire threat will be enhanced due to the large amount
of storm debris which is being burned across the area. debris burning
will be especially hazardous during the afternoon hours tomorrow.

a large weather system heads for the ohio valley by mid week. this
system will likely bring rain and even a chance of thunderstorms to
the area on wednesday. as this potent storm system moves past
eastern kentucky wednesday night ... colder air will pour into the
state on the back of gusty west winds. as a result ... there will be a
chance for snow showers from late wednesday night through the day on
thursday.
