| Abstract: | Education in nutrition/dietetics in Kentucky and articulation within the field are examined, based on the Kentucky Allied Health Project (KAHP), which designed an articulated statewide system to promote entry and exit of personnel at a variety of educational levels. The KAHP model promotes articulation in learning, planning, and resource utilization. Information is provided on the history of the nutrition/dietetics profession, educational programs, accreditation and approval, and dietetics registration/certification. Efforts of the Nutrition/Dietetics Discipline Advisory Group resulted in: identifying 25 core courses among undergraduate programs; negotiating a transfer agreement between Eastern Kentucky University and other Kentucky programs; developing A Counseling Guide for Transfer Students based on a comparison of curricula, admissions, and transfer policies; developing a student information brochure; establishing a model curriculum database to facilitate greater articulation; and surveying 1977-l981 graduates to determine the actual success of Kentucky programs in meeting nutrition/dietetics labor market requirements. The Kentucky Dietetic Association has agreed to change its Career Guidance Committee with updating pertinent components of the system (i.e., curriculum core, transfer guide, student brochure). The use of the Program Evaluation and Review Technique is addressed, and the transfer agreement is appended. (SW) |
