This file contains hydrologic unit boundaries and codes for the AT Corridor. It was revised for inclusion in the National Atlas of the United States of America, and updated to match the streams file created by the USGS National Mapping Division (NMD) for the National Atlas of the United States of America.
The data used for this project has been compiled from National Atlas, The Census Bureau, the Fish and Wildlife Service, ESRI Data CDs, SAMAB, SAIN, and the USGS.
Data located on the National Atlas or ATC website was downloaded via Zipfile, extracted, and opened in either ArcInfo 8.3 or 9.0. If the data was in shapefile format, the data was clipped using ArcToolbox, if larger than the aforementioned states, to the subject Eastern region of the U.S. which includes the fourteen states through which the trail runs through, as well as South Carolina, Delaware, and Rhode Island. The data was then exported in the current data frame coordinate system deemed appropriate for the subject area.
If the data was in DBF table format, a duplicate copy of the U.S. counties shapefile was made, and the data was joined based on FIPS codes. Depending on the data, layer properties and category values may have been modified to visually display the particular characteristics of that specific dataset.
