Consensual Encounters

7/13/2006

For officers of the law, knowledge of the law itself is a key to making a good case. Without it, you could have the best of intentions, but a technicality could throw it all out the window.

During this hour-long telecast, learn about the legal foundation behind consensual encounters, increase your understanding of the Fourth Amendment relating to search and seizure, and see how to make your case hold up in court.

Using scenarios, viewers will also learn how to determine reasonable suspicion and probable cause based solely on behavior, plan a consensual encounter, and prepare for testimony in court and the court’s review of the encounter.
