Assassin Bugs, Ambush Bugs, Thread-legged Bugs

The reduviids are terrestrial predators that feed on just about anything that moves, including people. Modern assassin bugs invade houses and feed at night, biting any exposed parts of sleeping people, often around the mouth area which gives them their common name, "kissing bugs." In South America (and some recent scattered reports in North America), the assassin bug spreads Chagas' disease from other mammals to humans.
