This readme.txt file contains instructions for installing or updating the avocado software. The instructions assume that you are running from a dos shell under windows but you can create subdirectories, delete files etc. using windows utilities if you desire. 1. Create the directory where you want the new rate software to reside. If you wish to use the same directory as you did for the older versions you will need to DELETE all the old files from the old directory before you proceed. 2. Find or create a DIFFERENT directory which you can use to unzip the avoc97.zip file and hold the unzipped files until the installation procedure is completed. I will call this directory d:\temp but you can use any drive and directory where you have enough room. Approximately 6 megs will be needed until the installation is completed. After the program is installed you can free up the space by deleting the files in d:\temp . 3. Copy the avoc97.zip file into the d:\temp directory and unzip the files using pkzip or winzip. When the files are unzipped type SETUP to start the installation. 4. Answer ok to the first menu if you have stopped all other applications. 5. In the second menu be sure to change the directory to the directory you specified in step 1 before proceeding. To change the direcory click on the change directory 'button'. From the resulting window you can either type in the path and directory or browse with the mouse until you find the desired directory. If you browse you must double click to choose the appropriate directory. Click on ok to proceed. The second screen should now list the new directory as the install directory. If it does click on the computer screen icon to proceed. If not go back to the change directory window and retype the appropriate directory. 6. You should be done. The avcrev97 program should be added to your programs. You can also start the program from the dos window by changing to the resident directory specified in step 1 and typing AVCREV97 . Note: The whole farm total premium quote can be obtained after inputting the total farm acres in the THIRD window of the software.
