Senator Bernie Sanders met with Asel Akhmetova, a Kazak exchange student living with a family in Bennington, Vermont, as part of the State Department's Future Leaders Exchange program. The program was established in 1992 to provide an opportunity for high school students from the countries of the former Soviet Union to experience life in a democratic society in order to promote democratic values and institutions in Eurasia. *** Click on the photo for a high resolution version.
