Here is my concern with the dems currently backing a vote, if the vote does not occur before the election, they will change their mind when re-elected. Her is what Pelosi is saying:
Politico.com also reported on Tuesday that Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)– who strongly opposes expanded domestic oil drilling — has encouraged rank and file Democrats to support increased drilling if they believe it will help them win their elections in November.

We were there! We spent almost an hour in the first row this morning. What a remarkable experience. I get the feeling that the Representatives (and one Senator) who spoke really enjoyed the chance to do a little good old fashioned speechifyin’ to a crowd of normal people rather than press types or other elected officials. It was informative and enjoyable.
