ISSUE: The need for knowledge on transvestite sexual commerce, considering that the majority of those infected by HIV/AIDS are men (89%) who are primarily of homo-bisexual orientation. DESCRIPTION: This work consisted in conducting field visits several times a week with the purpose of diagnosing, by means of techniques of observation and non-structured interviews, a diagnosis on the perception of risk in the stated population. First, an approach stage was carried out and then, with the information obtained an interview was structured and applied, and subsequently analyzed. A report was elaborated for its divulgement. LESSONS: Achievements are focused in obtaining a social-demographic profile of this group, knowledge on the perception of risk where the difference between sexual work and affective practices is significant. It also evidenced the need of deepening the knowledge on risk practices and their prevention strategies. Another achievement is the relationship between the Sexual Minorities Movement and the object group, which allows the approach of this population to health centers and HIV/AIDS training. RECOMMENDATIONS: With the achievements of this investigation it was possible to elaborate more precise prevention strategies in the transvestite population, and confirming the possibility of reproducing this work in other Regions. The main aspect in this work is the combination of a technical work and the experience of peer groups (homosexuals and transvestites).
